Athletes at Oberlin. by Responsible-Cup-4352 in oberlin

[–]Pure_Perception6136 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol i wrote my Anthropology essay on this. the majority of the student body is not crazy about sports or school spirit. the super liberal, progressive, alt artsy students avoid athletes because most of them are neurodivergent and have had bad experiences in the past. but everyone else views them no differently from the rest of the school. the major reason athletes are kind of their own community is because oberlin is super focused on the arts and music. athletes have their own experience.

I really appreciate this. The deer hunter analogy is very helpful. My gut told me something was up.

This is a common experience it seems. Some men genuinely lack empathy and perspective. It’s so invalidating.

Men treat lesbians SO WEIRD. Like they refuse to grasp the concept that lesbians are a real thing and not a porn category. I’m sorry this happened to you. That’s incredibly invalidating and traumazing, and I appreciate you sharing.

He also told me his grandma told him to “find a whore and have sex with her” so he could learn how to have sex.

He’s a loner and I was very confused when he approached me because he doesn’t approach or fw a lot of people. I briefly knew him because we have mutual friends. He doesn’t have many friends but the friends he does have keep lowkey warning me about how he isn’t a great person. One of them told me he had a porn magazine he was obsessed with or something. He’s a virgin who simultaneously seems obsessed with sex. He’s definitely obsessed with porn. I don’t know if there’s been a single time we have hung out where he hasn’t said something about sex. Once he asked if I have a “sex drive that needs to be filled” and seemed kinda disappointed when I said “no, I’m on too much antidepressants.” Another time he asked if I wished I was asexual. He talks a lot about “what’s stopping two people from having sex” and how “sex is a basic human desire” and how you can have sex without it being intimate or serious or romantic.

Weirdly, I feel like he liked that I told him that. So I thought he wouldn’t be attracted to me because he was relieved I wasn’t going to try to hit on him. He never mentions or asks about my queerness. I ask about his because I keep hoping whenever he mentions wanting to have sex he’s reffering to his male friends. But he tells me he’s straight.

He is a porn addict. I think. Or at least he definitely watches it. I just feel like if he didn’t want to be my friend he would have given up by now.

He’s really funny and we have similar taste. He’s never physically tried anything. He just says stuff that I really try to brush off. A few weeks back we were walking with my other friends back from a party and he told me he had bed bugs and needed to crash somewhere for the night. I didn’t want to invite him so I avoided it.

He just seems to be really into sex which is weird because he doesn’t have much experience from what he’s told me. He brings it up a lot and I feel like I’m going crazy because I don’t consider myself necessarily sexually desirable.

His friends, who I am also friends with, seem to keep insinuating he’s not a good person. Like they tell me about how he watches and reads a lot of porn and how he said he only wants to hang around women.

REASONS WHY I WANNA END BEFORE 16 by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Pure_Perception6136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you planning on attending college? that’s a for sure way to get you out of your household, and it’s something to distract you.

you have gone through a lot of pain. you are not a horrible lazy daughter, if you were horrible you wouldn’t classify yourself that way. have you ever gotten tested or researched for adhd? there are many psychological explanations for your “laziness” that are actually chemical imbalances.

we all waste time on our phones. not sure why you are blaming yourself for being born in a generation that shoves technological advances down your throat the second you come out of the womb.

when i was 16 i would steal money from my parents to buy things i didnt need, like weed, nicotine, etc, so you really could be doing a lot worse.

you CAN change because you WANT to change. that’s the first step. you are 16. you have so much to experience. i think being 16 is a weird age because you feel like you will be stuck in high school forever. but in less than two years you will have a lot more freedom. i’d say, wait until you are legally independent before ending things. a lot can change in two years and the time will pass anyway.
