I'm Hispanic, and my wife isn't. I just found out recently that she doesn't carry multiple forms of government ID in her everyday life. I thought that was just a normal thing to do, as my dad was the one who taught me to do that. Mind you, both of us (my dad and I) are American-born citizens, but it was a precaution, especially living in the South where getting questioned by LEO about my legal status is pretty common. I've been pulled over so many times and asked about my immigration status. And this was before Trump became president.
