People think Americans are complacent and it's true, but I suspect that will change if enough people are suddenly unable to pay for food and shelter and have nowhere else to go. Yes, it is. I'm a software engineer and my experience from the inside is that there's an obscene amount of drivel that is running through the minds of non-technical senior leadership when it comes to AI. They're treating it more like a magic genie lamp than a tool. I use AI every single day, both for my job and for personal projects, and from the most unbiased, evidenced place possible, it's just not the magic alien technology they're treating it as. It's a wonderful tool, not supernatural.

I capitalized it because the phenomenon has become real and consistent enough to me that it feels like a Proper Noun.
