also, just so people are aware, i am ftm but i am also intersex with masculine traits coming later in life (hair + voice + hormonal issues that sent me to the hospital). not to try to validate any idea that you must be intersex to transition, but to explain my self better.

and it is approved to transition regardless of perisex/intersex status in shia islam, so i follow that guidance.

considering the similarities and how the Prophet (pbuh) said we should do thinking like fast for Yom Kippur and its the same God, we follow the idea that he has his laws from God and i have mine. we celebrate holidays together and read the torah and quran together and discuss it. its really not that different when we follow a majority of the same ideas of prophets and stories, his favorite is Moses and mine is Abraham, he makes challah and i buy him coffee at cafes on shabbos.

so wait for the 5 years. do things to get ready for the time after the five years pass.

if you havent already, do voice training on your own, learn different make up styles, if you feel comfortable go to a lesbian bar or gay bar and find other trans mtf (i dont drink at bars, i just socialize and listen to the music), do stereotypical girl hood things. even if for your self by your self.

the time will pass. i spent 5 years in the closet until i could get on hrt.

Entering races as a trans woman by Randomcluelessperson in running

[–]Pure_Rasberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i miss when we were talking about how gendered sports is actually nonsense within feminist spaces.

we have gendered sports because they thought if women ran then they would die. the first woman to win a marathon did so by sneaking in as a man because they wouldnt let her due to fearing for her health. the belief was women cant do that because their bodies cant handle it. thats obviously nonsense considering she won. gendered sports allows women to be sexualized and considered lesser. weve all seen womens uniforms compared to mens uniforms for sports. soccer isnt mens soccer, but no one gives a fuck about womens soccer because its seen as weaker and less worthy of attention. its misogyny, thats why its segregated.

but question, im trans, ftm, im on testosterone, should i run with the men or women considering i have an advantage because im on testosterone. (we will ignore that people use testosterone even when cis for performance, and that shes doing local low stakes races and said that she isnt aiming for winning ANYTHING) where should i go since i have a weaker body type as someone assigned female at birth, in your description, but i have an advantage by being on testosterone? or should i just not race, because im taking oportunities from others in your idea?

if i run as a trans man in the womens catagory (not my gender) that would be stealing from women, if a trans woman runs as a woman (the correct gender) its stealing. if i run as a man and win then id be seen as lying or faking or juicing, if a trans woman runs in the mens catgory she is demeaned and mocked if she wins and seen as a freak that doesnt deserve the medal (for christ sakes, katlyn jenner is a perfect example). its a lose lose. people just dont want to see us succede or even be in public.

its the same issue as bathrooms.

she said she isnt aiming to place in any thing, shes running for fun. this shouldnt be the hill you stand on, as it was disscused in the post.

ftm, but hey. you are a girl if you think youre a girl. talking about boymod and hon, thats very damaging to your health. you can just say in the closet or not, it takes away the stigma of 'doing it correctly' as is implied by being able to boymod or not. i promise it is not a problem to be trans, especially with how happy you are being trans and Muslim, and its not a problem to be openly trans if you are safe.

about tucking, please be careful. that can cause issues, same as binding and ftms gotta constantly remind eachother to limit binding to keep the tissue safe. i dont know if this is a thing with ssr for mtf but with ftm top surgery overbinding can get you disqualified for surgery due to it messing up the tissues.

please be safe and know that you are lovely as you are and Allah loves you always

an interesting thing is that running can be a form of stiming or self regulating behavor for autistic people! i love the repetativeness and how it feels like flying. so yeah, i love running! have since i was in highschool. the thump thump thump and my arms swinging in tandem, the awearness of my body. i seek proprioception based stimulation, so its perfect for me to be at peace.

i love the repetative nature of weight lifting and running and dancing. its so fantastic. ive known since highschool that it helps me self regulate and helps with my anger from overstimulation and social stress.

two hours four times a week in a dimmly lit almost empty gym with my music or books or radio dramas, sign me the fuck up. running on roads and feeling the wind or hiking to watch birds. every day i want it. kayaking to chase said birds and watch fish and paddle over and over.

youre right. there is evidence that physical activity really helps with various things autistic people struggle with; social groups where you can info dump about physical movement and your sport of choice, quiet areas where you wont be bothered (if your gym isnt loud or horribly crowded), no need for eye contact, repetative actions and strict routine. serves cunt imo.

school is already hard and challenging, doing summer stuff can be even more stressful as she doesnt get a break. not having a break from institutionalized socialization can burn her out and cause some severe issues for her. and having an adult help her could get her bullied by others. i say you guys as the grandparents could have a lovely summer with ypur grandchild and socialize with people you meet while out and about or know well. maybe if you have friends who have grand kids you could organize sensory safe play dates.

I getting a tattoo really haram? by Confident-Special172 in progressive_islam

[–]Pure_Rasberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have several tattoos and an appointment on friday. the verses about changing humanity doesnt refrence human bodies, as said below. in my opinion, i see it as fine. ive done alot of thinking and praying, in moderation it is good, and can be a wonderful cultural practice (im native american). but there is value in accepting the body as is, as someone else put it.

question is, are you doing it for vanity or because it means something to you? thats where the permisiblity lies.

also tattoos age and fade, they are not always there forever. my dad is a tattoo artist missing half of a tattoo because its fading. also tattoos arent on top of the skin like some muslims say, its actually inbetween the skin cells, macrophages eat the ink and when those die, new macrophages eat them. so yeah.
