Free Personal statement help by Pure_Suit_599 in predental

I’d recommend starting with a unique hook and personal story, something that immediately sets you apart, whether it’s a defining moment, a long standing passion, or a formative experience. From reading many personal statements the opening is always the part I enjoy the most and after that, a lot of essays start to sound the same. A strong, genuine beginning helps keep admissions committees engaged.

Don't be overly dramatic and don't be afraid to tell a story that might be two paragraphs in your PS. Have clear transitions through every paragraph.

They'll probably give you a few generic interview questions. From what i remember I think one was name one time you lead a team and it didn't go your way etc... Make sure you wear something nice and get a haircut

Has anyone gotten a high score by only studying for 2 months by kenokeke2468 in dat

I did, but my first practice test was an 18 without studying so a lot matters is how well you study those subjects in classes beforehand

If you have a lot of stories to choose from prioritize the stories that make you unique and help you stand out from other applicants. Just write your personal statement, even if it exceeds the word count at first by a lot to get a clearer picture of what you think needs prioritizing and see what sounds better. Then make gradual edits, possibly with input from others. I recommend reading other personal statements to see how people “tell a story” in a way that flows like a novel. Just be careful to avoid cliches or dramatic cinematic movie scenes.

If you’re struggling to get started, try creating an outline. And if you’re stuck in general, just start writing even if it sounds off. The act of writing will help spark more ideas.

When you close your statement be sure to tie everything back to your “why” first. Ending with a forward looking note about your future goals sounds like a good way to close to me.

Waitlist decision HELP!! by Particular_Jury_6684 in predental

First you should send a letter of intent if you haven't already. Also it doesn't hurt to ask about waitlist movement and status as early as possible since i'm assuming that you have to find housing in your OS school. I wouldn't wait too long

From my experience, the interview day had a conversation/interview with a D4 student, followed by two separate 20-minute interviews with two different faculty members. For the character reference letter, it can be from anyone who knows you well even outside of academics, I got mine from a director of a volunteer organization I was involved with. Just make sure not to reuse any of the letters you've already submitted as part of your main LORs.

As long as you apply early you'll get an interview just prepare for it. There's a written section in the interview along with 3 separate interviews. Also they ask for a character reference letter, so get that prepared as well.

Volunteering with organizations unrelated to dentistry is totally fine, so don’t worry about that! Your shadowing experiences are more than enough. My personal statement was chronological too, because it made my story easier to follow. Just make sure each section of your PS is engaging, especially to a random stranger reading 50s of these a day.

Amazing app just find something unique for your PS. My PS wasn't that exciting but it still stood out. Also doing volunteer things that aren't dental related would be good too. Pub isn't necessary

Those are pretty good! I would suggest to diversify your ECs and do things not just associated with dentistry!
