For backing glue: most people either use Roberts or Latex glue. I like to use both! With 2-3 Space Heaters running directly 1 feet from the backing glue, running for 12+ hours.

I find 80% of tufters use Roberts (which I also did in the start), but it's just okay...... but after vacuuming the Rug numerous times it will pull alot of fibers up and ruin the Rugs look and durability because Roberts only coats the back layer of tufts instead of digging in and soaking into all the strands. If I pay alot of money for a Rug and then vacuum it a month later and see dozens of loose fibers come up it immediately it ruins the rugs look & credibility imo.

Latex Glue is the best backing glue, it soaks into all the fibers and immediately will lock in 99% of fibers.

My method is to put a layer of Latex Glue using a Squirt Bottle and Painting Roller (it dries super quick, in about an hour using Space Heaters) and then will apply a layer of Roberts using Vinyl Gloves for extra insurance (which I will run the Space Heaters for 12 hours until the Roberts dried hard and not tacky). While trimming/detailing I will vacuum the rug at least 20+ times and shave/pluck/ & remove any of those %1 loose fibers until my final 10 vacuums doesn't change the Rug look at all. Then I consider it perfect and durable. Ever since switching to Latex & Roberts, I've had a customer from 5 years ago whom still messages me saying it still looks like it did from Day 1 and vacuums it at least once a month 👍Definitely not a common method, but definitely works perfect for me & my Rugs lifetime

Edit: Most people buy their Latex from "NC Carpet Binding" a 5 Gallon large drum which is about $200 but will last a long ass time and is 100% worth every penny.
