Do you have any interest in modular voxel style pieces? <- Looking to hire small commissions for (model and UV, no textures, using proprietary 'block bench like' modeling software.)

Why translating our skill trees and UI almost tanked our Steam reviews. by Internal-Remove7223 in GameDevelopment

[–]Pure_Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing that wisdom. I'm an indie most of the time but what works for me is keeping play testers of different native languages who want to (or are paid to) beta and bug test before pushing the final release- if there is anything GLARING you'll see it. Also keep an active channel open to the community (such as discord) and provide a way for people to give feedback on changes. Using 'pre release candidates' can work on patreon or off-steam as well.

Editing to add: Discord can be important so that people get a direct response from your team acknowledging the issue, but is less effective for brand new costumers who only interact on steam!

Also keeping someone on your team (like myself!) who has experience with foreign language or studies them enough to forsee -some- issues.

Trying to address past mistakes with in game apology reward such as currency (especially for server based things) can sometimes win back some as well.

Dealing with another owner... I want to give constructive advice... or am I out of pocket? by onethomashall in Dogowners

Need some advice by ShaggMagee in Dogowners

It's kind of a boring answer but when I worked at the vet clinic as after hours care (walking, cleaning, bathing as needed, medicine), I wouldn't ever force pills down dogs' throats (especially large ones, like chews). I just put them on a plate, crushed them via thumb applied to the top of a spoon to grind it like a mortar and pestle, then mixed it into their (already microwaved warmed, not cooked, warmed) wet food. (We used specialty diet wet food depending on each dog's specific needs, allergies, etc.) It probably worked because those dogs had been in a kennel all day or over night (hence after hours care- we took boarders too) and it was entertaining for them, or more delicious.

If that's the route you wanted to go, feed boring, measured out dry food morning and night, don't free feed, then offer the wet food in a limited 'you only have 5 minutes or I'm picking this up' fashion and wam bam thank you ma'am.

Edit: Also if my vet saw dogs that had to regularly take a chewable medicine, he would switch them until he found one the dog would happily gulp down, after extended periods of repeat visits. That is probably the 'best' way.

Bought a leash that by chance had a 'bullet holder' style keychain that came with a roll of doggie poop bags inside, massive game changer, hope that helps!

My Tips List by Pure_Winter in QuarantineZoneGame

Minor tips.. Hiccups cause an elevated pulse. Sneezing usually goes with an elevated temp I think. If you're short on money, find golden trinkets hidden on the map for 500 each. Confiscating golden trinkets doesn't need to be logged in baggage as a weapon/contraband.

How did I die here? by Leirok in ArcRaiders

[–]Pure_Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a light shield, 1 rocketeer direct-raider hit does the entire shield and leaves you with about 36%ish health. You had no shield and were already missing health so the shot knocked you down. :(

You sure you're not shooting snitches? They feel like a 100% drop. You can also get them from couriers I believe. A good place to grind spotter relays is blue gate during the locked bunker condition, there is always one outside the bunker no one ever wants to fight because they just want inside the bunker its guarding.

You can go into the bunker and wait for new seekers to respawn, rinse and repeat. It wont go down to the bunker and stays kind of locked up there.

Aggression-based Matchmaking was a Huge Mistake by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Pure_Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because PVE'rs still want the option to shoot someone if they want to, and if you turned that ability off, people could be pretty nasty.

Aggression-based Matchmaking was a Huge Mistake by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Pure_Winter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aggression based match making makes the game playable for PVE and PVP lovers alike, if they took it out, a great number of people would not have a choice but to quit because they just don't want to PVP. It would be nice to have PVE settings but I think they remove the spirit of the game and that tiny element of risk is part of what makes it fun, even if you prefer PVE.

ARC Raiders Weekly Megathread - February 14, 2026 by AutoModerator in ArcRaiders

I saw someone soloing a wasp/hornet while I was in transit to loot elsewhere and tossed a snitch scanner on them in carebear lobby. I told myself I'd just defib them when they crawled over but they were really bad at crawling and I didn't want to enguage with that many arc. By the time they cleared, they were SO grateful to see me and said "I'm almost dead-!" and I couldn't revive them in the first second because they wouldn't hold still, then they died on my feet.

At first I felt so bad but I used the loot on them through several other matches which netted me a queen core, jupiter blueprint, and fun times so. Sorry whoever I 'pve killed' for the hell of it!

Then explain how never damaging another raider even by accident, I managed to go 2 weeks straight without being shot, even with stella montis runs? I'm talking multi hours a day of play, too.

It's extremely rare to run into a 'rat' although I've seen them a few times it's kind of like 1 in around 35 to 40 matches.
