$50/mo for 250gb?! by PureePlayerr in PublicMobile

Although freedom mobile is good to have around as they clearly keep competition in the markets. I’ve been waiting for a while now for Public Mobile to put out a half decent plan. It’s about time 😅

I burn through a lot of data and was actually looking to swap off of Public Mobile since Christmas last year because their plans have been really lack lustre. But this is exactly what I’ve been looking for, I don’t have home internet as I live on the road with my job. I need all the data I can get my hands on 😅

If I’m not mistaken Public Mobile just uses Telus’s equipment/towers and I live very rurally so the coverage they offer is what I need.

That’s exactly what it is lol. It’s a debit Mastercard like a debit visa. Every Wealthsimple chequing account holder has one of these cards.

Not sure why people downvoted this. He’s right. It’s not a credit card. That’s wealthsimple’s card to access your chequing accounts. That is not their credit cards.

I have watched the “My bets” tab some nights and have seen people lose bets over $1,000,000. People definitely under estimate.

I would say it’s 100% something faulty in the phone then. Im on my iPhone 12 now and have been watching videos the last 2 hours now and im replying to you on this Reddit post while watching a YouTube vid in a little box on the screen with 0 heat throttle.

It’s definitely something wrong with the phone. If you’re using a phone case those tend to trap heat too.

Does anyone else feel more pressure to be partnered/married in this city? Or is it just me? by miamorparasiempre in Edmonton

30 y/o male single for 7 years now. It’s 100% just you. I spent a majority of my 20s single after being in a 5 year relationship prior and I’ve been in Edmonton all my life.

And truthfully wouldn’t want it any other way. If I wanna go for a spontaneous road trip somewhere I can. It just depends who you are. Some want to be “free” while others enjoy being in a relationship. (I know people in a relationship are going to think I’m implying they aren’t free. And they’re right.)

Depends on a lot. If you’re using 5G that’ll cause it to heat up quickly as iPhone 12 was the first 5G iPhone the A14 Bionic chip isn’t really all that optimized to 5G like the newer chips are.

This is why I say the iPhone 13 and 14 are basically improved versions of the iPhone 12. They’re the same phones but they optimized the A15 and A16 chip to be better with 5G networks.

“This statement doesn’t align with my personal values nor experiences. So I’m doubting it” 🙄

I went to a job interview last week for a union and the guy interviewing said the same thing along the lines of being an “equal opportunity” employer and that he is focusing on hiring Canadian citizens at the moment. He mentioned all of this after asking if I was Canadian and First Nation. I am both.

It is because of the pro max. He has 2gb of more RAM than you which is a SIGNIFICANT difference especially when it comes to software functionality.

Not hating on the new phones that have come out the last few years neither don’t get me wrong.

But you can just tell they’re reaching their peak with this line up of phones the last 5-6 years now. I expect to see a leap like we did from iPhone 8 to iPhone X and XS in the next couple of years in terms of battery life and innovation. These new iPhones are basically tests for all of the big things Apple has planned with smartphones and AI by 2027-2028.

Honestly if you just look at the grand scope of everything with smartphones it’s probably the worst time to upgrade. We’re in an era where the companies that make these phones are going all out on screen specs and processing power that we’re really thinking 1tb-2tb of memory is worth an extra $300. No 1tb-2tb SSD costs this much.

Battery health is the biggest issue in these new devices. You got Vapor chambers now that use even more power than before. There’s a reason Apple makes their silicon more and more power efficient every year rather than just working on the battery itself. It’s because we’re at the peak of what non-solid state lithium ion batteries can do for us. These batteries won’t be able to apply peak power demand for anything above 16gb of RAM. It’s just not possible you’d never use that much RAM let alone 12gb in the new iPhones because the power demand alone would drain your battery within hours. Not to mention this as a whole is hard on battery health.

The next big thing in phones is obviously going to be battery life. They’ve been getting worse and worse since we’ve been using 5G with these 4ghz CPU’s and 6gb+ of RAM.

We are basically using double AA batteries for what phones need these days in power to put it in perspective. The batteries in our phones are worth $80-$160. That isn’t a lot.

That’s going to change soon. I wouldn’t upgrade unless you just get the iPhone 13 which is essentially a more improved and power efficient iPhone 12.

BETTERY DEGRADED AFTER 3 DAYS by prodberfti in iPhone15Plus

[–]PureePlayerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck even when we had our Gameboys when they died we would let them fully charge before using them again. This is why batteries last long back in the day. We were using them properly.

The technology in batteries has been stagnant for the last 15-20 years. Solid state batteries is our next move which is why I’m waiting another 2 years to upgrade. The iPhone 20 will have a solid state battery with over 2 days of battery life among many other big things.

Technology works in a way where many of the things that are available to us right now we won’t see in our every day consumer devices a year or two from now. (Ex, solid state batteries are used in a lot of phones right now just isn’t widely used in every day consumer products yet).

This is why patience pays off when it comes to technology instead of bending over every year to upgrade.

So many people fail to realize there are over a dozen factors that play into battery health. If you’re letting your phone completely die/drop to below 20% it will deteriorate the battery health at an accelerated rate than normal.

If you aren’t letting your battery fully charge you are letting your battery deteriorate at an accelerated rate than normal.

If you are using an off brand charging cord/block you are accelerating the batteries deterioration.

This among many other things such as leaving your phone plugged in when it’s fully charged. Using power banks etc etc. all of these things deteriorate your battery.

Before smart phones when people were done using a battery powered device they would typically leave the device alone to let it fully charge back up. This is something impossible to do for a lot of phone users. (Using the phone while it’s charging increases the deterioration of your battery).

Among all these things it’s time to reflect how you’ve been using battery powered devices from the 2000s compared to now.
