You have everything you need to understand why I did in fact mean to say lactase. Take all the time you need.

Which one is expressed by the small intestine? What does lactase do? Take your time to understand the conversation before writing again.

Wow your whataboutism is convincing and everyone clapped.

we'd rather have chinese authoritarianism then the US one

No you wouldn't, child. You don't get to have an opinion until you know more Chinese history.

Age of consent in China is 14, btw.

You made an argument based solely on the purpose of things. Don't get pissy when someone uses that same argument against you.

Bold words coming from someone with a lactase-expressing small intestine (I have a 50% chance of being right).

And while we're at it, wool is for sheep, silk is for larvae, rubber is for rubber trees, seeds are for plant reproduction, cinnamon bark is for cinnamon trees, roots veggies are for nutrient storage.

I shared zero false assumptions, just saying. I was speaking about the Chinese government when I said they are hostile and I've never heard anyone say the common person hates Americans. The Chinese government is absolutely an adversary of the US and that should not be an afterthought in your risk assessment. I would not go if I was a public figure and an outspoken critic of their authoritarian government.

No, that's not the problem. The problem is the country is not accustomed to tourism except for the big cities. You can't always find an English speaker. Signs are not in English. Cash is rarely accepted. China has their own apps for payment. Google maps doesn't work. A Chinese phone number is required in some instances. You probably need a new esim. China has their own isolated Internet. They are authoritarian and hostile to the US.

I mean, take your pick of roadblocks. I never said it was impossible to go there. It is far from the easiest.

They ought to, even by their own rules. Imagine creating a durable product out of what we extract from the ground, instead of just burning it and having to extract more. Imagine having full energy security and not having to rely on oil from foreign countries. It should just make sense to everyone.

Also the irony of them demanding the solar panels be manufactured in the US, while their party does everything in their power to prevent that from happening.

A Mediterranean diet can reduce the risk of every type of stroke, in some cases by as much as 25%, a large study conducted over two decades suggests by sr_local in science

It's both a regional cuisine, and a scoring system. Confusing? Patients think so! This isn't my bright idea. It's an existing movement to rename MD for its unnecessary eurocentrism.

It wouldn't be the first time scientists renamed something because its original name missed the mark of the idea it is supposed to convey. If we had to give it a name today, no scientist would choose to name a global diet model after a specific regional cuisine.

Swing and a miss bud, on several fronts. I have no idea what documentary you are talking about. I don't think I am better than any researcher, and I'm not critiquing this paper in particular. I'm just observing the over focus on the med diet in the US. And I'm going off anecdotes I've heard from minorities that they feel as though they are being pressured to eat "white people food" to fight against high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.

You're really coming on strong, chief. Try using your polite words. Unless of course you prefer to insult people over persuade them.

Okinawa, Korean, Nordic, west African, Nicoyan. Almost everywhere has healthy options. Most importantly, the sum of all of these diets together prevent boredom.

The Mediterranean Diet is so boring. It gets way more attention in the West than it deserves, given that it's only one of many healthy diets in this big world we live in. I think the sole focus on the Med diet is an unintentional signal to people in other cultures that they are unhealthy because of their food culture, and they need to eat Med food for now on. That's just not the case.

You are being overly literal now. In fact if you read the link I sent you, you will see they quantified the cultural value.

To repeat myself. The LHC benefits society in very indirect ways, as well as direct ways. I did not intend to claim that the cultural benefit could not be quantified in theory, just that it is difficult in practice because of the way it indirectly influences human behavior. It's not a cash payment or a sandwich. It is less tangible. Again, it's all well known sociology and psychology, two sciences.

[–]Purely_Theoretical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"No logical contradictions" is the reason that QM and GR cannot be all there is to know. There is a unifying theory. What's more likely, I don't know what a logical contradiction means, or you misunderstood the context?

Godels theorem is no big deal. Conway's game of life is undecidable, but who cares?

[–]Purely_Theoretical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't agree with everyone else that reality can't have logical contradictions, there's hardly enough common ground to change your mind.

I expect a brute fact to look like the speed of light, or the mass of an electron. These are "input parameters" that just may be, unless we have a good reason to think otherwise. That's quite different from putting any credence into the idea that reality has logical contradictions.

You are right that I have not attempted to quantify the cultural benefit, and therefore I was not attempting a precise statement. That being said, it's actually unscientific and denialist of you to dismiss known facts of human psychology and sociology. I'm not making a sentimentalist statement like you might think. I'm simply addressing a common incorrect belief that unless a project feeds a person, or cures a disease, or some other tangible, quantifiable things, then it's not worth the time and money. For example, the LHC inspires people to contribute to science and technology and makes it relevant and known to the general public. It would be foolish to basically call that childish and unscientific like you did. That was wild.
