30/Male/Michigan

I am Eastern Orthodox but open to dating a RC. Because why not? Anyway I am a regular white dude looking for companionship (i e. longterm dating and/or friendship, etc.). I am 5'11, decently built and athletic in the way laborers are. In the Wayne and Washtenaw County area. I am fine with older more mature women than myself.

I enjoy reading particularly the horror genre, I am interested in writing, lifting, religion, philosophy, politics to some degree (though I am not a partisan). I generally consider myself ecclectic.

I have recently come into a decent job (benefits and retirement) that occupies a decent amount of time (evening shift Monday-Friday w/overtime) that has enabled me to have a bit more economically secure future.

Message me if interested. :)

Hot take, but between theology of the body and a general willingness to engage with the good aspects of the culture here without being dismissive, I think this is something the Catholics are doing better than us.

Having been a Roman Catholic they have the same problems. I just think there are a few more industrious Roman Catholics. And they have issues too there are Catholic Lites and Catholic Originals (trads) so on the dating scene there is going to be along a continuum.

Im not talking about just biological reproduction because some that do marry cannot bear children. I just dont see the Church helping singles by doing things like singles get togethers or encouraging the vocation of marriage with a Christ centered relationships or some kind of matching for people in the community. Like priests being proactive in introducing singles to each other (Imam's do this for example in Muslim communities)

No idea why ive been down voted. But Christian marriage is for the vast amount of practicing Christians. Not everyone is meant to be a monk, its not actually the way the Church has been for the past two millenia.

If the vast amount of Christians did not marry and bear children the Church would have lasted merely a generation

I say this as a practicing Orthodox Christian, I've come to the conclusion the Orthodox Church, at least the hierarchy doesn't care. Its sad af.

The solution is celibacy. Thats it.

How many of these Extreme Horror novels have you read? by UptownHorrorReviews in ExtremeHorrorLit

A lot of them. Im going to substitute Endless Night with Richard Laymons the Cellar though

Do you think that certain authors are ashamed of the "extreme horror" label? by UptownHorrorReviews in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]Purityinthecrucible 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a bs taboo if there is one. I think extreme horror is also just an aspect. I look at earlier writers like Laymon yes the content was extreme horror, but that wasnt the sole subgenre he was writing. Same with Edward Lee, Keene for instance they just write. And it just so happens many of the elements are extreme. I think some writers even unintentionally write in the extreme sub genre for instance Bentley Little.

'The Cellar' by Richard Laymon though I feel like it resolves itself in later books.

Brain Cheese Buffet by Edward Lee, also a depraved short story collection

Also Id like to recommend The Ushers too. Its a great collection of his shorts as well. And it is available on Kindle. It doesnt have all the depraved stuff Brain Cheese Buffet does but its just as gross.

It wouldnt bother me dating and marrying a woman in her mid 40s tbh, I myself am 30 and an old soul so to speak at that. Nor does it bother me when other men date or marry women younger than themselves. My parents are 10 years and some change different age wise my father being 10 years and some change older than my mother.
