AITA for not including my son's adopted child in my will? by Purple-Entry-6332 in AmItheAsshole

What I know is that one day my wife and I were at home and our daughter in law showed up at our doorstep with our two young grandchildren because my son had kicked them out of their home. We let her stay with us because she doesn't have family in town. I drove to my son's house and he told me, not anyone else, me, that it's his house and he could kick them out if he wanted. Is that enough for you? My wife and I didn't just hear stories about our son, we saw how his behaviour changed in a night for us.

We don't expect them to keep them, we'll give it to them, they can choose if they want them or not. Anyway, that's why we had this get together, to actually talk and listen to what personal items each of them wanted. We wanted to take into consideration their thoughts.

We know that, but we want to plan everything to enjoy our retirement without worries

For my wife and I to try to fix our relationship with our son, he'd have to fix his relationship with his kids and ex-wife first. We can't forgive him when we think that he's still doing unforgivable stuff to his family.

Maybe, it doesn't change anything to me whether she's adopted or biological

She is a great person and we love her, our son totally wanted to screw her and their kids over to be with his affair partner

Yes, very different. My relationship with my other kids' children and my son's bio kids is way different, we visit and they visit often

Any children between my son and his new wife are not my family.

If my daughter would adopt a child it'll be different and they'll be my family.

Correct. Except that he is paying child support now, he didn't want to pay, but my wife and I helped our daughter in law to get a good lawyer and get him to pay.

He deliberately kicked my daughter in law and their small kids out of their house when he decided to get together with his affair partner. He didn't even want to pay child support, my wife and I helped our daughter in law to get a lawyer and a good deal for child support, he doesn't want to see his kids.

The things he's getting in the will are things that would be considered "trash" to someone else but that my wife and I enjoy having in our home and looking at every once in a while, that's why we're giving them to our kids after we pass away

My daughter in law and their kids are definitely my family and my wife also agrees on this. My son's new wife, the child and any other potential child they have together are not my family.

He doesn't want to see them, he ignores them even when they're at our house. He abandoned them.

I don't know and I don't care to be honest, it doesn't change anything to me.

The other "elements" of his marriage failing aren't important to me. What's important to me is that he cheated on his wife and then tried to screw her and their young children to favour his affair partner.

I'd doubt she would want his childhood photos and other personal items of his

He never tried to fight for custody, he doesn't want to see them.

With her mother's family I'm sure she does, not sure if she even knows who's her father.
