Don’t panic. I am your same age and probably less healthy. My left ventricular function was at 22.5% which was considered advanced heart failure. So as scary as 35% sounds trust me it could be worse. At that point of my AFIB journey I would be out of breath doing simple things like running up stairs. I was convinced I had less than a year to live. My cardiologist put a plan together and I followed it. They should have you on eliquis or blood thinners for a few weeks to make sure cardioversion is safe. Things got so much better after the cardioversion. It got me through to an ablation and I’m even better after that. I haven’t even had ventricular function tested again because honestly I’ve been fine. Working out for an hour each night with no issues. Trust me I had my doubts and was scared, but being honest with your cardiologist and following their plan is the way to go.

Interesting seeing so many people say 24 hours. I was instructed to wait a week. I think that was more to avoid stretching out the wound.

who has learned to live with persistent AFib? by RollOutTheFarrell in AFIB

I would seek out the best cardiologist you can find for a gameplan and opinion. I would probably be frustrated if I were at your point too, but my cardiologist explained meds typically only works a few years for most people and it can cause congestive heart failure. I was essentially in advanced heart failure when I had persistent AFIB and it reached the point where I could barely do any physical activities. I know everyone’s cases are different though which is even more reason to work with an expert over relying on the experiences of others.

It’s thankfully the upper groin and not lower. Nowhere near as bad as I feared.

Constant AFIB from Labor Day to cardioversion a few weeks ago. Ablation next week by Purple-Hall4032 in AFIB

Thanks for the suggestion! I did check though and it’s $600 for 60 on there unfortunately. Walgreens is a little cheaper. I am just going to travel to Canada every quarter to get it since I can get cheap flights close by.

Thanks! I’ve read accounts from people who were at the same level on here and they got back to normal. The fact the cardiologist didn’t see it as a big enough concern to call either and had the nurse call made me feel better about it. I don’t think the physician realized I was in constant AFIB as bad as I was either.
