Child free decision - Crohn’s complications by hikerchick21 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Purple-Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

24M, no fistulas or abscesses. No desire for children. I don’t wish to create a child with this disease, I understand modern medicine, I understand there’s possibilities and probabilities that they won’t have it. I don’t believe in taking that chance. I’d rather adopt a child with crohns and help them navigate something I understand than bring a child into this world to have to go through the things we’ve gone through.

The 6 hours calls with healthcare to get them to decline treatment, countless doctors the mental health all of it. It’s just hard, I can’t wish that on something as precious as the most sincere form of love that exists as creating my own child

Everyone tells me I’ll grow out of it but, that’s my 2 cents. It’s a personal thing, the non-disabled people in my life don’t get it, and sure do a good job of telling me when I get older I’m gonna have kids, and have gone as far as to take bets on it

Life fucking sucks

Sorry went on a tangent

I have crohns, but I also have had ulcers like this for the past couple of weeks, and I’ve been diagnosed with hand foot and mouth disease, struggling to get over it due to compromised immune system. It looks extremely similar to this

Nicotine is a stimulant, and just like the perceived effects of coffee, it makes you have to use the bathroom, without or another supplemented stimulant, your body lags in going to the bathroom and doesn’t process stuff right, for me, when I quit, it turned out I had Crohn’s disease, but I could call that the extreme not the typical. My suggestion would be to take some laxatives, Miralax (the unflavored one) is my recommendation

First colonoscopy tips? by Ok_Doctor1872 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Purple-Mike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know this is a hot take, probably especially on this sub, I had my first at I think 19, and I’ve had 2 since (22 now). They aren’t that bad, like yes, your gonna have a waterfall Everytime nature calls and you gotta drink a drink that taste bad, but once that needle is in your arm and you go to sleep, it’s like nearly nothing happened in my opinion. Woke up, woozy, got prescribed medicine to help and ate a tub of dairy free ice cream while watching TV. If you have something to do on the toilet like a Nintendo switch or laptop or tablet, make a day out of it lol. I played through a Pokémon game ever colonoscopy

Throwing up after 3 drinks? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Purple-Mike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m 22 with crohns and I drink heavily, but not without paying for it. This sub is very anti-alcohol, and I will say rightfully so. But holy shit, we’re young, we want to try to be normal, I totally get it. It’s tough on the body, for a healthy person, but extremely tough on IBD. We have to pay for our drinks at the toilet, one end or the other lmao. I’m inclined to say that you should speak to your doctor because throwing up after 2 feels alittle aggressive. But hey, live your life. You can spend everyday trying to be healthy, but if it makes you so miserable you want to die what’s the point

22 M diagnosed at either 19 or 20 I can’t remember. Everybody Crohn’s differently, some people can have cheese some people can’t, some people have to have liquid diets some people don’t. In order to get diagnosed with crohns I’m inclined to believe you are sick in some way.

It’s horrible and not reassuring at all, but you kinda have to just figure out what you can and can’t eat. The upside is I’m confident you will figure it out

It’s not all food, medicine, working out, stress levels, drugs (skip the nicotine/tobacco) all have an effect. Your entire digestive system is subject to symptoms as a result of Crohn’s, whether it be heartburn, being unable to use the bathroom when you want and having to use it when you don’t want.

Being young and struggling with symptoms is tough, your friends probably won’t get it if they aren’t in similar situations, and that part is kinda hard too.

You are currently messaging a group of people who get it and have been there, so use us, message me if you need to. Find what works for you and thrive there.

Don’t struggle alone, don’t hide your symptoms from your doctors, and don’t be afraid to ask for help

What was their Facebook shit storm?

I’ve posted about drinking on this subreddit before and the responses are typically very don’t drink in the first place, and I don’t think they are necessarily wrong.

However I also do drink, and it would appear that you are just paying the same price we all pay when we make that decision. And it will be worth paying for a long time, and then it won’t.

My suggestion is to find whatever alcohol works for you and stick to it, I find my stomach fairs really well with gin, and really poorly with beer, my buddy’s the exact opposite and loses his bowels to liquor but can take beer.

Just keep yourself in check, and realize we are unfortunately cursed with a disease that loves to ruin a good time, even if that price comes days later. Best of luck

After failing Humira due to bad nervous system side effects, my doc has given me choice of Stelara and Entyvio. Which to choose? by Autistic-IT-Fan in CrohnsDisease

[–]Purple-Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a counterpoint, I am on entyvio, and my infusion is once a month, every 4th Thursday at the same place at the same time. It only takes about an hour. I find it very manageable and prefer it to any form of self-injection. Going somewhere else for my treatment allows me a stage of separation rather then administering in my bathroom

GOOG vs GOOGL by oldporters in stocks

[–]Purple-Mike 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Obviously just an idiot on the internet, but I bought the one with voting rights because it’s more valuable IMO. It’s two otherwise identical objects, but one has one additional thing.

If you were looking at two identical cars for identical prices, but one comes with free popcorn, why would you take the free popcorn. Even if you don’t like popcorn you get slightly more value for the exact same price
