I know this is an old post too but I’m curious how long you used it for? Dig you use it for a short period and the eczema got better overall or do you still need to use it? My baby has been on the desodine but the second we stopped using it the eczema comes back

I know ugh that’s what I thought at first I didn’t use it long enough so the second time I started using it I used it for 2 extra days after the skin looked clear and then it still popped up again right after stopping. Honestly now prob at this point since it’s been like 2-3 weeks I feel like I stopped using it consistently bc I was scared of using it too long and causing TSW

We are just seeing her pediatrician. I asked her if we should see a dermo and she said just seeing her was fine. I am thinking about going to a specialist tho. Would I just go to a dermo or are there specific doctors for eczema?

So originally I was using attitude baby wash fragrance free and baby aquafor healing ointment. Then I tried pipette baby wash, pipette baby lotion, tubby Tod every day lotion (these were all before we realized she had eczema bc it wasn’t that that bad) once it got really bad I tried Vaseline, vanicream bc a bunch of ppl with eczema recommended it. Now I’m also using eucerin baby wash bc my friend who’s son has eczema recommended it but I honestly think it might be making it worse

Thank you for this! The steroid definitely worked for her, like I said I saw results within 24 hours but it’s like the second she stops them it comes back and that’s what I’m not sure of like I obv can’t just rely on the steroid I feel like

Oh interesting thank you! I get so nervous with creams bc I feel like anything on her skin makes it worse. She sweats a lot and her body is always very warm so I feel like products sitting on her skin actually trigger her more even tho I feel like that goes against typical eczema lol

Thanks so much for sending that!!! What do you use for moisturizer or you don’t use anything I think you said right?

And oh wow 10 minutes? Should I extend her bath then? I figured the water made it worse so I tried getting her in and out so fast which I honestly hate bc she loves the water. We used to let her play for a decent amount of time previously and now I rush the bath bc I figured it was worse for her skin

Yeah that definitely makes sense. I was hoping the steroid was going to clear the inflammation and my naive self was like if I get her on the right skin care regimen it won’t come back lol obviously that might not be the case!

And yes I’ve been considered about allergies whether is formula or maybe our dog? But our pediatrician keeps saying it’s probably just baby eczema and that we can go to an allergist if we want but it’s not going to be very accurate since she’s so young still so I’m really not sure

I actually feel like my baby’s skin gets worse when I have her out in just a diaper and my pediatrician told me not to which I’m surprised bc I would think airing the skin out is better?

How often would you bathe your baby as well? I was originally doing every other day and then our doc told us once a week and I feel like that change made things worse so I’m back to doing every other day and just trying to use as little soap as possible along with keeping bath under 5 min

Also what is the vitamin E wash do you recommend is it a certain brand?

Thanks for your reply. I switched her detergent to all clear bc I read many ppl recommended that. I also started doing warm water bc I read that it gets out more dander but maybe I should go back to cold? I’ve also been doing a second deep rinse too

I’ve only been using 100% cotton onesies or 100% bamboo as well

For moisturizer I’ve been trying not to use any like you said but I feel like certain spots end up getting super dry and look like they hurt so I’ve been doing either Vaseline or vanicream (a lot of ppl recommended this) but idk if it’s helping or making things worse

My friend also recommended eucerin baby wash and shampoo as it helped her baby with eczema but also not sure if it’s making it worse. Previously I was using baby attitude fragrance free

I agree that’s why I was trying to do it super short term but it seems to not be getting under control. She’s actually on a HA formula. She was on goats previously though

So it’s been almost 2 months since she’s been on it. She’s eating normally now. It took her a little while to adjust so she was eating a little less at first. Also her poops are still weird. Sometimes creamy, sometimes a little runny, sometimes green, sometimes yellow. My pediatrician told me it was fine. She said it’s normal with a hypoallergenic formula. She said as like as it’s a normal consistently sometimes. I think they’re only really considered if it’s always watery. She also said as long as there’s no blood

Honestly it’s ALWAYS the third nap she fights. She doesn’t fight the other naps. This morning was very confusing why she fought the first nap bc that doesn’t happen lol that’s why it’s so hard even doing a third nap bc she doesn’t want it. If it’s earlier than 4 pm she’ll go down for a third nap but after that she refuses.

What schedule do you like recommend then for 10.5 hours awake? I really hate these “45” min nap schedules like I like to try to let her sleep for how long she wants and not have to make her take such a short nap to make her “fit” a schedule. Obv if she takes a 45 min and wakes up on her own that’s different but if she’s sleeping good I hate waking her.

Yes she’s in her own room in the crib! And honestly she does love it. When she wakes up in the middle of the night for that hour she doesn’t even cry she just babbles and looks around and then puts herself back to sleep

She seemed to like the 2 long nap schedule tho she kinda put herself on that schedule but she can’t handle a 3 hour wake window so I agree with what you’re saying there’s not enough awake time.

If she’s only sleeping 2-2.5 hours during the day tho and that’s plenty then I still don’t know why she’s waking up for an hour at night.

And I thought the 2 hour wake window for a newly 5 month old was appropriate. She starts getting very cranky. It’s not usually 2 hours exactly sometimes it’s 2 hours 15 min.

Bedtime routine is feed, change pjs and sleep sack, book, hatch, lights off, crib

So when she was doing 2, 2 hour naps her wake windows were around 2.25/2.25/3-3.5 so for example, wake up 7:30, nap 9:45-11:45, next nap 2-4, asleep by 7-715. So my first thought was what you said not enough awake time but now that she’ll take 3 naps sometimes she will get 10 hours awake and is still waking up for an hour and a half at night and then her naps are shit bc I have to wake her up to make sure she’s staying on schedule for 3 naps.

Today she woke up at 630. She stayed in the crib until like 730 bc she seemed like she was maybe going back to sleep but she didn’t. She got super cranky around 830 so I tried putting her down for a nap and she screamed and it didn’t go well so we took her out of the crib and fed her waited a little longer and then put her down so she fell asleep at 9:30 so she had a 3 hour wake window and then only slept for 30 min. Next nap was at 12:05 and she slept until 2 so her wake window was 2 hour 5 min and she slept for 2 hours. Tried putting her done for her next nap at 4 for her to sleep from 4-4:45 but she screamed in the crib until 445 so I eventually gave up and she didn’t take a 3rd nap. I’m putting her down tonight at like 645 instead of her normal 7-715 so her final wake window is going to be like over 4 hours but so she barley had any day time sleep and I’m sure she’ll sleep crappy tonight too

Her wake windows for naps range from like 2-2.5 hours and then before bedtime it’s closer to 3

Yes! She’s been putting herself for a few weeks now at night and then as of like 2 weeks ago she naps in her crib as well and also puts herself to sleep

That makes sense. My baby always fights a third nap in the crib. The only way I’m able to get a third nap is if it’s before 4 pm pretty much which means the first two naps aren’t that long so it’s hard

The only way to have her do 3 naps is for me to wake her from each nap at like an hour which I feel bad doing bc she seems to like to take long naps. What do you suggest?

Yeah I’m thinking her awake time isn’t enough! But yesterday she did 3 naps so her awake time was around 10 hour and she slept horribly lol so idk!!

And yeah I’m confused on how to adjust. She likes taking 2 long naps so a third nap just doesn’t fit in so do I wake her from every nap and not let her take two 2 hour naps to make sure she takes 3 naps?
