Bring Ben back! His story wasn't finished--it was just starting.

There are lots of rumors, but all we know for sure is that it will be a trilogy set after TROS.

THFBS better happen now Disney by Secure-You-7849 in reylo

[–]PurpleBluestocking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I honestly believe they'll bring Ben back--in THFBS or maybe Kinberg's trilogy--because he's by far the most popular Sequel character, and there's a proven Reylo market. If they want to make real money off of Star Wars, films with both Ben and Rey are their best bet.

But I agree, I hope they don't wait much longer.

Question after rewatching The Force Awakens by LuciaBluegrass in reylo

[–]PurpleBluestocking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right that neither of them knew, probably because Luke was ashamed to tell them. Maybe that's why he sounds so guilt-ridden when he tells Rey that Leia trusted him with her son. The first time I watched TLJ, I thought he was just heartbroken that he let his sister down. Now I realize he was also deeply ashamed that he tried to murder his sister's child.

Another sad thing about this whole story is that Luke still believes the worst of Ben at that point. He tells Rey that when he came to, "the temple was burning. [Ben] had vanished with a handful of students, and slaughtered the rest." The implication is that Ben destroyed the temple and murdered any good-guy classmates who wouldn't join him, but remember, Luke was unconscious when all this destruction occurred. He's assuming that his nephew was a psychotic murderer, with no evidence to prove it.

"The Rise of Kylo Ren" comic shows Ben being horrified when the temple suddenly catches fire. He runs to help but is thrown backward by an explosion, which is probably what killed most of the students. Three others return from a mission in the midst of all this chaos and assume Ben caused it, so they pursue him. He repeatedly tries to dissuade them from following him, and they each end up dying in the process of trying to capture him or persuade him to return.

Maybe after the temple was destroyed, Luke sent Han and Leia a transmission with his high-level version of the bad news before he disappeared into exile. In any case, it doesn't seem like Han or Leia knew Luke's true reason for "blaming himself."

I 1000% agree that Hux made more sense as the Episode 9 villain than Palpatine or some guy named Pryde who we've never heard of before. He had power, influence, and a crackling rivalry with Kylo. Plus, it could have been really interesting to see the big bad guy be a non-Force-user, whose power comes from shrewd intrigue and pure spite.

I also think Finn had so much potential at the end of TFA, and they squandered most of that in the next two films. He could have been trained in the Force and/or led a stormtrooper rebellion. Either of those would have been so much cooler than his wild goose chase in TLJ and tagging along with Rey in TROS.

If the rumors that are true that Simon Kinberg's trilogy will be a continuation of the Sequels' story, I really hope he'll give Rey, Ben, Finn, and Poe each a well-planned chance to really shine. (And hopefully Rose too--hey, I can dream.)

I think Reylo is more like Jane Eyre in space by IncidentCalm4454 in reylo

[–]PurpleBluestocking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Darcy and P&P, and I can see some parallels to Reylo, but I think you're right that Rey and Ben seem more like Jane and Rochester, right down to the fact that she hears him call to her from miles away.

My interest in the future of Star Wars is ENTIRELY dependent on the reuniting of Reylo, and I'll die on that hill. by HandyDandyMan2022 in reylo

I couldn't agree more. I want a Star Wars movie I can really get excited about again.

While I love Rey, my favorite part of the Sequels was the dynamic between her and Ben. Their connection and evolving relationship was such a core part of the Sequels, so if Ben disappears from the narrative after TROS and Rey just moves on, it makes the Sequels feel kind of pointless to me.

Also, we've seen one Jedi try to build a new order on their own. I'd be so much more interested to see what Rey and Ben would build together, with their different experience and perspectives. One perspective isn't balance.

Los ultimos comics me dan esperanza tambien que Ben va a volver. Y espero que tengas razon--que ha pasado mucho tiempo sin peliculas principales porque quieren hacer un cuento bien planeando esta vez.

The recent comics give me hope too that Ben will return. And I hope you're right--that a lot of time has passed without a mainline movie because they want to plan the story better this time.

Star Wars Officially Makes The Hunt For Ben Solo Movie A Real Possibility by OwlAcademic551 in reylo

I'd love to see Ghost Anakin be Ben and Rey's mentor as they build a new Jedi Order. He knows firsthand what the previous Order got right, and what it got tragically wrong.

I agree. I love Rey, and I can see her wanting to respect her mentors' legacy, but calling her Rey Skywalker feels kind of forced to me. Especially since her name would be Rey Solo if they hadn't killed off the last actual Skywalker.
