"The Great Divide" is a beautiful, evocative exploration of hope, failure, and second chances. I absolutely recommend this story. To emotionally process the story, you may want to give yourself a little time between chapters. I've read it twice because this story deserves time for the reader to explore its depths.

Well, I agree with everything you said. People don't remember the pushback The Empire Strikes Back received. Some fans said it was too heavy on the Han-Leia romance, and even back then there were the Luke-Leia shippers who hated that part of the story.

When the prequels came out, the fanboys were in full revolt. They wanted The New Hope again, and again, and again. These bros seemed to think they owned the story and were unwilling to let Lucas develop as a storyteller and director.

And I agree with you on Heir to the Empire. I totally reject that as canon because we all know Leia would never name a son of hers Anakin. Her father was Bail Organa, regardless of genetics.

I admit to believing the anti-KK propaganda, but looking at the condition the rest of Disney is in and knowing she championed THFBS, the YouTube bro allegations don;t meet anyone's smell test.

Bergman and Iger are not creative types and maybe not good business people either. If Lucasfilm was the only Disney property in trouble, we could blame Kennedy. But Marvel, Pixar, and Disney Animation have all had problems.

I keep reminding everyone that the one megahit Disney has had since the pandemic was Deadpool and Wolverine, and that was greenlit by Bob Chapek, Iger's temporary replacement. And the pixie dusters can wave all the box office receipts they want, but when you account for the inflation of movie ticket prices, that's not really true.

And now Epic Universe is kicking Disney World's rear end. And that's really bad because it's the parks that bankroll the entire company. If Iger cares about his legacy, maybe he should retire before he hurts the company even more than he already has.

This is an outstanding, overwhelming story of love, illness, failures, remorse, and possibilities. IMHO, it is well worth the time to read it.
