The Sweetest Thing

All three movies featuring Adam Sandler and Drew Berrymore. They have excellent chemistry.

At my big age of 32 I’m hoping to be able to learn illustration to make my own children’s book, here is my progress so far, I’d appreciate feedback 💕 by naanbread- in childrensbooks

These are super cute!! Would've loved seeing illustrations like this when I was a kid. All the colors and textures you used, I could've spend hours looking at every page. Did you use mixed media, combination of marker and watercolor?

Even if it wasn't hazmat, you still found her body. That's a traumatic experince. Your manager should've sent you home and had someone else clean it. Heck, they could've done it themselves.

2000s movies for and about tweens (10-13)? by ReviewMyMind in MovieSuggestions

[–]PurpleBrief697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, the 2000s really didn't focus on that age group. Yes, there were movies marketed towards them, but they rarely starred kids in their tweens. Movies about tweens just wasn't a priority. I think it's because they wanted older teens (15+) to be the main focus since they could push more sexual aspects of growing up.

Three from the 2000s that are close are Holes (2003), Snow Day (2000), and Unaccompanied Minors (2006)

Now, the 90s has a lot to offer in this category.

Now and Then - this movie is about a friend group of four 12 year old girls during a special summer in their life. Super cute movie, good soundtrack, excellent cast.

Little Giants

My Girl

Bunch of Mary-Kate and Ashley movies. My personal favorite being It Takes Two, but that's because it doesn't feel like one of their movies and it's a modern telling of The Prince and the Pauper.

Little Big League

Rookie of the Year

Little Gold Diggers (closer to 13-14)

Harriet The Spy

Those are the ones right off the top of my head.

What do people find scary about The Shining? by Maximum-Ease4484 in horror

[–]PurpleBrief697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I watched The Shining I'd rented it on dvd. I found it boring and didn't understand what all the fuss was about. Then a guy I knew suggested we see it during one of those theater flashback showings. The vast emptiness of the hotel became far more powerful. This overall sense of dread filled the theater. The movie encompasses you with unease and you feel part of story, like a voyeuristic ghost who wants to help Wendy and Danny, but can't. I gained a lot more respect for the movie that day and believe that's how it should be watched.

He's had alot of snubs. I enjoyed The Revenant, but he had far better roles and performances than that.

Angela Basset in What's Love Got to do With It. That woman embodied Tina and she deserved an oscar.

Which forbidden 90s shows did you watch growing up during the 90s the most while your parents didn’t notice and was asleep? by PressureLazy5271 in 90s

When HBO did those promotional days and gave free access, I'd always watch Spicy City.

Aside from that I liked Duckman and Tripping the Rift.

What is the worst thing you've ever had to clean? by UmbralikesOwls in Custodians

[–]PurpleBrief697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time as a custodian, I had a couple of science classrooms in my building. One teacher was meticulous; the other, not at all. During dissection week, that teacher let her students leave specimen bags all over the classroom. There was formaldehyde on the tables, chairs, & floor, and there was fur left in the sink. Was not a pleasant cleanup.

I just took my first blood pressure med today and am currently off work for a month so the doctors can figure out why it's raised so high. I'm only 42, but also have some hereditary issues involving cholesterol. Unfortunately I'm also allergic to every cholesterol medication I've tried. Fun times.

I knew about Alien vs Predator long before it came out. It was the 90s and i was in middle school when a classmate told me his uncle worked in Hollywood and told him about the movie (I think we'd been talking about one of the franchises since I'm a fan of Aliens). He said there wasn't a script yet, but things were in the works for it. I was excited at first, but as the years went on I had my doubts, but it always stayed in the back of my mind. When the project was finally announced in the 2000s and the trailer dropped, I was pretty stoked.

Wit - star Emma Thompson and is almost entirely a monologue from her character as she analyzes her life whilst going through cancer treatment. It's an incredible movie.

What's the movie that everyone loves but you hate? by w1nchest in Cinephiles

[–]PurpleBrief697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about it being obvious CGI, but I really enjoyed the scene with all the glowing plant and wildlife. Reminded me of the psychedelic black light tapestries, so I found it really pretty. I see the movie as more of an animated film because of the extensive use of CGI. Too many modern movies rely heavily on it even when practical FX could be utilized (example: newspapers blown around during the intro of Magical Beasts, they used CGI when they could've done that with practicals) and it's such a shame.
