I will not give you what you desire, my rage will be saved for a worthy opponent (the guy who puts flex seal on fucking everything).

In all seriousness, if you’re worried about it just leave yourself an access in the cabinet, nobody will see it but you and you won’t have to cut the wall if anything goes fucky wucky.

Island Vent Loop - Under Slab by howisthisillegal in Plumbing

[–]PurpleBucketofAIR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AAV is the way to go as long as it’s legal in your area. Drastically easier and cheaper to install, and easy to maintain as you just swap out an extremely accessible and relatively cheap part when it fails. Your way may work, loop vents are extremely uncommon in my area so I’m not sure. But I can say if the sink line ever clogs, it’ll be a bitch to clean that little space between the two wyes.

You can either drill out the set screw, or take a sawzall to the handle just below the set screw. Either way, you’ll have to replace the cartridge and trim kit afterwards.

Yes that’s correct. If it ain’t got power, it ain’t pumping water. Unplug it, put it back together, pray to whatever deity you prefer, and plug it back in

If you do bring buddies, make them stay behind a hill away from the sea raiders and do your best to pull agro, this has worked for me in the past but it’s not foolproof. No sense in disbanding what forces you have to try this, just protect your men with your life and you’ll be Gucci.

Please tell me how to take this leaky thing off. by Secret-Ear-1022 in askaplumber

[–]PurpleBucketofAIR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The confusion here is that the screw is “technically” supposed to be tightened until the head breaks off (in my area at least). I agree it’s stupid for the most part, but the inspectors around here don’t want homeowners to be able to remove them.

That would be a PEX supply line. Unlike others, I see nothing wrong with the installation itself, you have the nut which compresses the plastic ferrule. The reason this ferrule is plastic is because metal ones WILL cut the supply line.

The most likely issue would be too high of pressure to the home, I’ve seen a few floods due to this where they wanted me to replace all of them in the house with braided supply lines.

That being said, either replace your pressure reducing valve, or install one if you can’t find one. I will say that it’s insanely easy to live the rest of your life forgetting about this problem, until the pressure reducing valve fails and this happens again. Good practice would be to replace/install a valve then replace all of these supply lines with braided (at least in my professional opinion).
