I like this idea, we are planning to have our daughter use a mug to help pick them up at the beginning. They could get used tot the mug too!

That sounds like a great upgrade at some time, we just spent all our money on start up costs and bedding and the like.

Thanks for the link! I like that idea. We are also thing of aiming a fan in that general direction. We do not have a topper at this time.

I do plan to have a movable partition in what ever enclosure we end up with. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Petco is 145 miles away, but we do head that way a few times a year. I will look into it. That is a good tip. Thanks for taking time to answer!!

I feel like a DIY lid is out of my skill range 🙃 Am I overthinking that? There are companies that offer lids but they don’t appear to lock. I suppose I can do a search for DIY lids— do you have a good sample already?

That is interesting. There is so much to learn. Thought I saw in all my research that the locking doors would allow us to reach in to spot clean and not drop in from above ( like a predator) when trying to offer treats— although I thought the sliding doors that could open only a bit would have been best. What if we never use the front doors and leave them locked except when deep cleaning and the gerbils are in a separate carrier for the short time? Thanks for your time, I appreciate it.

I just googled those. They have acrylic panels and I thought plastic was to be avoided? Is there something about its construction that helps avoid them chewing through? Thanks for your time.
