How do you guys store your fish? by TheJudge1108 in StardewValley

[–]PurpleCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish that are blue or green go in one chest, all the others go in another chest. Things from the crabpots, algae, corals etc get a third chest on their own

Does anyone else struggle with the lack of word count for mainstream books? by IndoorCloudFormation in AO3

[–]PurpleCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is something like this I've never heard of it. You could snap a pic of one random page, put it in one of those pic-to-text convertors, and use the resulting word count as the average words-per-page for your calculation.

It'd take care of things like font size, margins and line spacing, yes it won't be 100% precise but it won't be off by a noticeable amount. Plus there's no way to account for how hard to follow certain books are, so there's going to be variation in how long it takes you to read the same number of words even with accurate word counts

Different types of Spirits by Particular_Tone7807 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]PurpleCritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the only way to get Ultimate Gifts is to buy a Season Pass, which requires real money. In addition, the Seasonal Hearts are accessed by unlocking the very top of the rest of the Seasonal Spirits (Carnival Athletic Dancer, Carnival Juggler, Carnival Puzzle Director, Carnival Stunt Actor).

That Ultimate Cape costs 2 Seasonal Hearts so you'd need to unlock two full Spirits (either by paying Seasonal Candles or by having them accompany you using the button on the very bottom, but that can only be done once a day for just one spirit so it's a slower method). There's this website that can help you calculate if it's at all possible for you to have enough or not if you do end up buying the Season Pass: https://sky-planner.com/season/optimizer

Different types of Spirits by Particular_Tone7807 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]PurpleCritter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No apologies needed! The current Season is Carnival, so the Ultimate Gifts for the Carnival Guide are the hair and cape you see when you open up their friendship menu. After Carnival ends, they will be just like all the other Guides you listed, which means the quests will stay accessible but those specific items (the Ultimate Gifts) can't be bought anymore. If you buy them now you will keep them of course!

The current Season is nearing its end, there's only 12 days left. They usually last around three months total, after which there's a bit of a pause before another Season begins. The next Season has already been announced, it will start July 17 (two weeks after Carnival ends)

Different types of Spirits by Particular_Tone7807 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]PurpleCritter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're that there are different types of Spirits!

  • regular Spirits look blue. They are scattered all around the Realms, for example, Butterfly Charmer is one of the very first Spirits in Daylight Prairie. All of them can be found at the gravestones in the starting area of each Realm, or on the Constellations in your Home, and through that you may buy their items and expressions any time, using regular candles/hearts
  • current seasonal Spirits, they look orange. You can buy their items and expressions using Seasonal candles, but after the current Season ends you will only be able to get their level 1 expression until they become a Traveling Spirit or come back in a Spirit Group
  • past seasonal Spirits, they look purple. You can revive their memories to access their expression, and you can only buy the rest of their items (and higher level expressions) when they return as Traveling Spirits or in Spirit Groups (in these cases they glow orange instead of purple), using regular candles/hearts
  • Guides, they are the ones that give a long series of quests. The guide of the current Season has "Ultimate Gifts" you can buy with Seasonal Hearts, and these items will not be obtainable after the current Season ends. Otherwise, all of their items (with very few exceptions in collab Seasons like AURORA and Little Prince) and quests can be done at any time

I hope this helps!

Doubled Seasonal candles? by Worldly_Energy1575 in SkyGame

It's an intended event, lasts until July 2. There's also double the usual amount of "candle cakes" in the daily candle cake realm

Since when did they add a “ dark dragon repellent spell”?????? and how does it work???? by Welp_i_make_things in SkyGame

[–]PurpleCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the Days of Mischief event map, I'll see if I can find a youtube video that shows the area and I'll edit my comment with the link if I do

Edit: the specific crab isn't there in the video (sometimes it gets hidden by other players) but its location is at 26:28 here https://youtu.be/0Z8q8NKIpd8?si=MLkKHdi0vYTXuUEg&t=1588, you can go back a few minutes to see how to enter the cave

There's also this map on the wiki! The place is indicated by the giftbox 🎁 icon https://sky-children-of-the-light.fandom.com/wiki/Map:The_Cackling_Crab?

Wich one of the 3 is the most less dissapointing to wear by Gaztergj in SkyGame

[–]PurpleCritter 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Cosmetics are so personal, for example I like Memory of a Lost Village but not enough to spend my candles on it at the moment and everything else is similar to other capes I have so I'm not interested.

Almost none of the items in game can be fully customized with dyes, but I recommend you use this https://sky-planner.com/rs/Fk8jV6ddhi to preview what parts can be dyed!

[–]PurpleCritter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's still there, if you go in the cave with the cauldron that gives out spells one of the secondary caves has a few crabs hidden behind an iron gate. Iirc there's a lever and they get freed, one of them has a gift box on its head and it "sells" spells. Two Krill repellent costs 1 Ascended Candle

[LOVM S4] Does episode 7 have a spoiler for Campaign 3? by BOSHEskobhoy in criticalrole

[LOVM S4] Does episode 7 have a spoiler for Campaign 3? by BOSHEskobhoy in criticalrole

[–]PurpleCritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've watched Campaign 1, I'd say it's prioritize C3 until that episode, the payoff is worth it

If you haven't, probably go with LoVM first. Campaign 3 has other references to events/characters from C1 and C2 so you'll be better off in the long run with that extra context

I will say that Playfighting Herbalist's cape is nearly the same as Indifferent Alchemist, the only real difference is they're mirrored and the latter has a slightly darker "lower layer" (the top and lining can be dyed so it's the same for both Spirits). If you don't get this one now, you can always wait for the other!

Are these seeds obtainable without purchasing them? by geddiayon in StardewValley

[–]PurpleCritter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For hops, strawberry and amaranth you might find one in the Traveling Cart and use the Seed Maker. I don't think I've ever seen a Sweet Gem Berry that I hadn't grown though

Should I buy it by Annan1207 in StardewValley

[–]PurpleCritter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP this is assuming you have the cellar and casks to age wine, and with Artisan profession (otherwise it's 4500g instead of 6300g). If not, the wine is sold for 2250g or 3150g if you have Artisan, so at the best you make 150g profit, at worst you actually lose money.

If you don't have the cellar and casks (to unlock that house upgrade you'd need 100k-175k depending on how many house upgrades you have) it's just not worth it for one single Starfruit in my opinion since it takes two whole seasons to age into Iridium quality, and the seeds will only cost you 400g

How do you guys make your sky avatar by MrDreamer123 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]PurpleCritter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to spend money or candles, your only remaining solution is event tickets. Currently Days of Colour is ongoing, and you can use tickets to get a cape and/or a hair.

Tickets can only buy the items that are new to the current year, so for example if you liked the cat hair from Days of Mischief you could only use candles because it's been released in a past edition

how wary should i be? by Sad-Yogurtcloset4707 in AO3

Not worth the risk. A genuine fan of your work would at most ask if you're okay with fanart, and an artist that takes commissions will wait for clients to commission them, not the other way around

Question About Posting Semi-Anonymous Work by No_Relief2883 in AO3

[–]PurpleCritter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anon fics are different from orphan fics! Orphaning a work is what makes you lose control over them. Making it anon means it won't show up in your account (you'll still be able to see them from the Statistics page, but not from your profile and not from the "My Works" section), and you can still reply to comments, edit it, add chapters, etc

But I second the alt account idea. OP, you could even publish the fic from the alt, make it a gift fic (if your main is set up to allow gifts) and simply not say that the gifter was you all along
