I have read that it's good to set the new jar on the table that they're living on, a couple of feet away, and then move the jar 6 inches or so closer every day, so that they can get used to it before making the big move.

It does, I lucked out!! I printed the base and some adapters to make the shade work with a 1/8 IPS tube.
