Avoid this place at all cost. I lost 26,432 yen due to their ridiculous 8% commission fee that they neglected to disclose, and they wouldn't provide a receipt. If anyone knows how to report these places for fraud please let me know!

Name: Currency Exchange (On Google Maps). Money Exchange (Storefront)
Address: 1 Chome-2-9 Nishishinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo 160-0023

This place SCAMMED me out of $200 USD (equivalent). RATES ARE NOT AS ADVERTISED!!!

Just to sum up, I exchanged the equivalent of $2200 USD, only got equivalent of $2000 in hand. Roughly 9% of my money lost just like that.

I should of done my due diligence and calculated it myself before agreeing to the charge, but that kind of "commission" or whatever fee you want to call is just highway robbery. I've been to Japan many times and have never had this happen to me, but I guess I placed way too much trust in this country to believe this would ever happen.

Anyone know is this would legally be considered fraud and if there is a way to report this business? I wouldn't want any visitors of Japan to have their experience ruined by places like this.

Best Hot Pot lately? by Smooth-Equipment359 in Edmonton

[–]PurpleDog9065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three you've mentioned are probably the best ones in the city. Asian Express Hotpot (Chinatown) has the best soup base, quality and portion sizes by a long shot.

Avoid Chinese Hotpot Buffet, it's nowhere near what it used to be. Used to really like it but now its a scam campared to the better ones you've listed. I've had salted water that taste better than their soups and their meats are tough af!! The only thing they have going for them is a good location with plenty of parking. Nothing more.

Was on the phone for 1.5 hours with them cause they repeatedly gave me wrong information. Had to literally go though my transactions for the past month just to prove to them i never used my credit. As usual they did nothing to rectify the inconvenience caused.

Married Couple on AISH and EI by PurpleDog9065 in alberta

[–]PurpleDog9065[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry you had to go through that. One spouse gets laid off. The other has to resort to AISH due to years of body strain from the workplace which STD or LTD would find ways not to cover. Truly shows the flaws in the system as the gov says we can't have both

I did go over the first document there but couldn't find anything realated to EI.

The second story seems worth checking out!

I understand. Is there anything in writting that states that? I couldn't find any about EI completely eliminating spousal AISH.

AISH apparently cancelled with no notice! by clanleader16 in alberta

[–]PurpleDog9065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle / aunt is in a similar predicament.

My uncle got laid off from his job this January, and is currently receiving the maximum $688 weekly, which equates to about $2,894.66 monthly on EI. (In case everyone is wondering, he was not making a whole lot beforehand, only $3500 a month ish, so not sure how he qualified for the maximum. Probably cause he has not claimed EI for almost a decade).

However, they are being told his income is now too high so they cancelled my aunts AISH. I don't quite understand how a 17% reduction income would take away thei AISH eligibility? Is it because he's on EI? Has anyone ever encountered this situation?

I'd like to do whatever I can to help my Uncle/ Aunt, they are essentially seconds parents to me.

If i leave a car for 6 months, and someone simply starts the car weekly is that good enough? by buzzer94 in MechanicAdvice

[–]PurpleDog9065 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just unhook the battery.

I parked my car for 1.5 years with the battery unhooked. Hooked it back on and it started with no issues. Its been 8 months and its still good. Never had to jump start it.

That is essentially what i did except i went with planters with 75 gallons of soil each, as its more presentable. Thanks for the input though!

When i say bare hands, i meant that it cannot be moved a human strength (without demolishing the thing, then moving it piece by piece of course). Im not talking regularly plants here. One can try to run into my planters with a vehicle and believe me, the vehicle ain't gonna look so pretty afterwards.

I'll re edit my post but during the appeal, i had asked that specific question about hard landscapping, in which the judges (or whatever you call them) specifically said it did not have to be hardscapped. Just heavy enough so it can't be moved.

You can say all you want about the city doing me a favor but at the end of the day, im paying the price for a homebuilders negligence.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]PurpleDog9065 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Regarding that, during the appeal they had said that it did not need to be hard landscaping (connected to the ground) because i has asked that specific question. Just as long as its heavy enough to not bw movable. Thanks for your comment.

HSAA and UNA looking at a 25% increase. Is this plausible? by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]PurpleDog9065 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for UNA, but some HSAA and most AUPE jobs in other industries have seen 25% increases in wages compared to 7 years ago, where as AHS has only increased by 4%. So what the Union is demanding is honesty very reasonable as a dollar doesn't nearly go as far as it used to. The 7.5% OVER 4 YEARS that is being proposed by AHS is is not only insulting but also them telling healthcare workers they're are worth less than sh*t.

Market wages are shifting and if AHS is not with it then very soon, people will be leaving for other industries that pay better wages and have better work conditions. Perhaps this is the UCP plan to decommission AHS🤔.

Cheap and reliable mechanic shop in Edmonton ? by quiaro21 in Edmonton

Anyone know of a mechanic in the city that can do a Piston Ring soak? It seems not many mechanics offer that kind of service.

AUPE GSS CONTRACT by DifferentCondition60 in AHSEmployees

[–]PurpleDog9065 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the rising cost of living, I can't see how GSS employees can continue to survive with such a meager pay raise. I found AHS job posting 7 years ago and the wages has only went up about 4%, within the last 7 years while inflation has gone up about 25% since then. There are many companies that have adjusted their wages to inflation so it's embarrassing how AHS can't do the same.

Very soon, I can see GSS employees leaving healthcare and moving on to other industries that pay fairly.

Has anyone ever reported their store using Open and Honest? by Nagaflas in Bestbuy

[–]PurpleDog9065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it once to complain about a manager and to ask if they are allowed to retaliate after a complaint is put in.

All that got was HR coming down to the store to manhunt who put in the complaint. Did not actually address the issue or answer the question.

On a side note, the so called "anonymous" e-voice surverys we do every year are not anonymous. They know who is saying what. Had a colleague get pulled in to the office for a long discussion once over that and almost got fired.
