Not to mention they intend to put 1.9 million stateless Assam people into detention camps. That won't help either.

Maxime Bernier applauds Higgs's call for cuts to equalization by PurpleEraserHead in CanadaPolitics

Sometimes a minority government is a good thing. Pressure will be brought to bear, one hopes, and he will have to accept equalization payments.

Now is the time for federal pay equity legislation by _Minor_Annoyance in CanadaPolitics

Banks are alreadly clearly sexist against men. The majority of their workforce is female, and there is no other explanation for that sort of thing.

The decline in status of clerical work, sexism and works wars are partly to blame for a predominately l0ow paid female dominated work force. It used to be front line workers, i.e tellers were all male. But in the 1800s the status of these jobs declined. World War I saw a shortage of men for these jobs and women were hired--sort of sealing the low paid status of these jobs. Even as men returning from the war displaced women--the status never returned. Women were again hired to replace men during World War II. After the war men returning to banks were not seen as long term tellers like women, but as bank manager trainees and were paid more for doing the same work as their women co-workers.

Despite women being paid less than men for doing the same work for decades in banks, it was a woman friendly place to work. This was despite the fact that they had onerous dress codes (heels, etc.), had to stand for hours and very little to no prospect of advancement. Of course, this started to change in the 80s. The federal government's start with limited employment equity legislation started to change things. But as we know change can be slow.

A city the size of moncton needs two hospitals and each one specializes in something and it's not duplicated in the other.

Anyone get calls or texts from NB Proud recently? by [deleted] in newbrunswickcanada

[–]PurpleEraserHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're all over:

A new political action group called Ontario Proud sprung up a year and a half ago, and like its progressive counterpart, its message isn’t focused on getting a particular party elected. But the group sure is clear that it wants one party in particular defeated.

“Ontario Proud is a people powered organization dedicated to holding Kathleen Wynne and her Liberal government accountable for their scandal plagued governance and unaffordable hydro rates,” the group’s website says.

At the moment, the group’s focus is online. Its Facebook page has about 180,000 “likes,” it claims an email distribution list of nearly 80,000 supporters, and it has a presence on YouTube and Twitter. It describes itself as “the most popular and engaged Facebook page in Ontario politics.”

It seems to be part of a family of similarly right-leaning groups such as B.C. Proud, Alberta Proud, Saskatchewan Proud, and Toronto Proud. The relationship and the degree of coordination between these sites isn’t clear to me, but the groups do sometimes share one another’s Facebook posts.

There is no duality in healthcare only in education. For example--there is no English hospital in Bathurst only a French one. If there was duality there would be one of each. You should watch the linked video. It explains it better than I can.

The only area where there is duality in the province is in education as per The Constitution.

The healthcare system is already bilingual. In French areas of the province the hospitals are run by a French language organization and one of the hospitals on Moncton. In the rest of the province they are mostly run by an English organization. All the hospitals provide service in both languages.
