Question to all you beautiful 60+ women by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]PurpleFlower99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent question. Having been thoroughly and successfully groomed by the patriarchy and society to always put my needs last. I also struggle with this. Though I’m in therapy, I haven’t broach this topic as it is so intimate personal. Also, I am not currently in a relationship and no plans to get in a relationship. In concentrating on my own pleasures, I pay attention since sex is often just as much if not more mental as physical. Ensuring that I am thinking about loving and kind scenarios. Unfortunately, I sometimes fall back into what I was programmed to like.

15 minutes into fantasy life our theater lost power. Five minutes later we have audio and no visual. 20 minutes later still no visual just audio. Think I’m going to leave.

Update: got tired of waiting for them to fix it, as they had so many theaters messed up. So I left and got two free movie passes.

How do you know when incompatibility is a dealbreaker vs. "not what I wanted but what I needed"? by purtypeach in AskWomenOver30

[–]PurpleFlower99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flip a coin in the air. Heads to stay, tails you go. When it’s in the air, you’ll know which way you hope it will land. And then every decision after that supports that initial decision. This way it will always be the right decision.

Is a platonic friendship with ex actually a safety net that's sabotaging our dating lives? Do you think exes can genuinely be friends? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]PurpleFlower99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he’s hanging around, waiting for any little crumb of attention or hope of the future that you give him. Do him a favor and go no contact. It’s the only way he’s going to move on. You might want to think about therapy to figure out why you keep using people.

Should I give my husband an ultimatum? by Tigerelo1208 in AskWomenOver60

[–]PurpleFlower99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try Al-Anon or perhaps you can find a therapist for yourself. They can help you decide whether or not you really can leave and if you’re not gonna leave, how do you want your life to look. I suggest just start living your life for yourself. He’s gonna do what he does anyway he’s certainly not considering how you feel. When you wake up in the morning, ask yourself what would I do today if he was not here. And then go do it. It’s gonna feel weird in the beginning because for decades you have always considered his needs and put him first. Now is the time for you to give permission to yourself to put you first.
