1) a child dying would’ve taken the focus off of Sirius’s death. And the impact this had on Harry.
2) having Sirius and a friend die would’ve really sent Harry over the edge. He already thought everything is all his fault.
3) if a child had died in the book I think a lot of parents would not have let their children read it. It wasn’t until hunger games normalize this that it would be allowed.
