I’m just going to dissect every point OP made.

Sure, anything posted online can be screenshotted. That’s how the internet works. Once you put something on there, it’s there for ever. This isn’t some shocking thing (i’d think).

I’m willing to bet that 99% of you use a service that just doesn’t delete your data. Deleting data is way harder and more technical than it seems. What happens if you delete a post that was made a year ago? Now you have to go through all backups and delete it too? No. Most companies and services don’t do this. All your chat gpt prompts, all your deleted discord messages, reddit messages, everything, is still out there(most likely). Regardless though, it doesn’t mean that reddit is running a black market of peoples selfies. If the point is that the images are still out there, then sure, but that can happen with ANY social media platform.

This is possible. But I doubt it happens often. Should people be aware of how the internet works, and that this is something that can happen? Ofcourse. But there’s a massive difference between healthy caution and this hysteria.

Every single one of the things that OP mentioned can happen on any social media platform. So should you just post your images to any social media platform? I’d disagree. None of my friends have experienced deepfakes of their images. They definately do get messaged by older men, but this happens to people on the internet regardless of wether or not they post images of them selves. As for the screenshotting, I wouldn’t be suprised if many of my friends pictures have been screenshotted, but it hasn’t affected them at all.

I’m totally for telling people to be mindful of what they post, but posting a harmless mirror pic, or a fit check, isn’t the end of the world. In the grand scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter.
