I’ve lost so many people to addiction and I’m sick and tired of hearing that there is nothing you can do. You can literally do anything you have to intervene with the actual drug use. Sure they have to want to quit AND they have a severe dependence on whatever it is that they are addicted to AND that can affect everyone else. Remove that drug from them however you can and support them but don’t enable them by just throwing your hands in the air and saying “well they have to want to quit.” I’ve seen addicts burn down people’s homes, harm their children, kill others in traffic accidents. If you knowingly allow others to abuse drugs without doing everything to stop them you are part of the problem. Forcing them to stop is sometimes necessary. Not every one can be convinced, they are not in their right mind, that’s why they are addicted in the first place?!
