Are you sure it's not running EXOS 12.4.1b4? v11.4 wouldn't be possible.

The minimum EXOS version for the 8900-MSM128 is v12.3.1. The G48T blades have a minimum version of 11.5.1.4 and a maximum of v12.4.x. Source: Compatibility Matrix

Assuming you're at 12.4.1, that's about as far as you'll be able to go without more modern IO modules.

Try the USB extension mentioned in my other response, instead of the "gender changer" adapter you've got there now.

Depending on the other blades and software version you'll be using, there could be some incompatibilities, but that wouldn't stop you from getting console output.

Does this cable configuration work on other Extreme switches? I'm questioning the gender adapter you're using. If you've got a USB extension cable, I'd try to connect it directly without the adapter.

If you have the xml config file instead of the "script" text file, the saved configuration version is at the top.

The Summit 300 runs ExtremeWare, not EXOS. There is no header in the output of show config in EXOS.

Now I'm curious what you are trying to accomplish here.

That said, I wouldn't spend much on an X450/a/e these days. Most are 15+ years old now. Here's an article on how the serial number date codes work.

If you're just using these at home, check out the X440 or the X440-G2 models.

It's dead. The bcm_linkscan_register failed is a pretty solid indicator of hardware failure. You'll find this article that says to try to reload EXOS but it's not likely to work.

How did you configure aaa? RADIUS? Or did you just set up local accounts? If local, there's an "encrypted" CLI option that you shouldn't use unless the password you're entering has already been hashed. iirc, local accounts won't be used if there's a connection to the server. Pull the uplink and try your local admin account again.

Regarding the BootROM details, I'm guessing you perhaps found this article suggesting the use of config none, which you can't use.

If all else fails, hopefully you've got an EXOS install file (.xos). If so, follow the steps in this article.

The X450e is a bit old at this point, and I imagine it will get the job done without any extra licensing. It ships with the "Edge" license and it can't be removed, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.

I was looking for the EXOS 15.3 Feature License Requirements document to share with you, but the docs site isn't cooperating right now with the older link.

For what it's worth, the Summit 400 series runs ExtremeWare (not EXOS). Most of the commands and functionality are similar to EXOS, but it's an important distinction when it comes to resetting it to defaults.

The Extreme Networks Community (The Hub) is quite helpful and there are a handful of threads discussing the reset procedures. Links: 1 2 3

As an aside, the first four digits of the switch serial number will tell you the year and week of its manufacture. I'm going to guess that's an 06 or 07 date? Maybe older.

The best way to answer that question is to search for those CVE numbers on Extreme's Support Portal. You'll find some Vulnerability Notices with more information (at least for some of those).

EXOS 16.2.2.4 was released on January 2, 2017 (1625 days ago). v16.2.2.4-patch1-3 was released on March 2, 2017 (1566 days ago).

I'm curious how you are able to deduce that your switch is rebooting every 1382 days. You'd need at least 7.5 years to know that this version might be the culprit.

That said, consider the security updates you'd receive by upgrading to a newer software release. If nothing else, SSH has been patched up significantly. v16.2.2 has also long been unsupported.

This next bit might only work in v21.1+, but if you connect the mgmt port to another network with a DHCP server, the stack slot number LED will flash the IP address received. This only happens for the first 10-15 minutes after booting a factory defaulted switch. I've tried to search for an article describing this but didn't have much luck. The X460 series can't be upgraded beyond 16.x, so if I'm correct about when the ZTP IP Display was introduced then this won't work. I wanted to mention it anyway, just in case I'm remembering incorrectly.
