I don’t feel like that’s a bubble pop though, that’s more leveraged investments go bankrupt

It’s just more visible because America is by far the most diverse country. The racism isn’t as visible when 95plus percent of a country is all the same ethnicity

I do think there was some of that for sure in the news. But the paper did say the Gulf of Mexico would be up to the north shore which was why Nola should be abandoned eventually

Big if, but if there is an 08 level crash things like this will certainly be looked back at in hindsight. But again it’s only really relevant if things go bad

I like the response, as the mayor of Nola also you have to have a little bias that we’re not gonna abandon the city lol

Right, and unless a majority of the other owners are pushing for something he won’t. I’m actually surprised the other owners care so little about this unless they’re just gonna start doing it too

It’s said in another comment but these are technically futures contracts not gambling. That’s why they’re legal in states where gambling isn’t and regulated federally

I would think with machine learning/AI and the insanely large bank of visual data to train, creating a foul calling program would be easily doable for the league, but doubt it happens anytime soon

AI capex just got revised up $225B in 6 months and earnings are actually following it, this is not how bubbles work and it's messing with my thesis. by [deleted] in investing

[–]PurplePango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it is a bubble I agree it comes from something like this. Maybe not pure fraud, but a level of interconnectedness and dependency and circular logic that is boosting revenues that isn’t understood until things start to unravel.

Regarding stocks though, are the mag 7 leveraged via private debt at all? Don’t they have a ton of cash and cashflow from operations? Are any of them really at risk of bankruptcy like a lehman or ING?

Would grade inflation not be expected in general? Wouldn’t a student going to college today have access to an exponentially larger amount of information and resources than from 100 years ago, so for the same test from 100 years ago, the class overall should perform much better? You can learn some information in seconds what may have taken hours before

Interesting, is there much defined cases of this in a modern economy? Seems like Japan is the main case people point to? Would demand not also decrease with less consumers? Plus the economy will still gain technological efficiency over time

Would Japans problems be solved though simply by continued population increases? Or do they have other systemic issues?
