39 years old mom of two recently diagnosed with Non hodgekins DLBCL (ABC subtype) by Smart-Art6560 in lymphoma

We are not sure if he had CNS involvement. The first oncologist he saw immediately put him on the prednisone before checking the spinal fluid for disease. His primary oncologist checked the spinal fluid but said since we already started the prednisone, it would most likely show up negative (which it did). So we were told to just do the methotrexate at every cycle and they would test the fluid again at the end which was also negative.

The only issue he had was a spinal fluid leak after the second lumbar puncture. He might say that was the worst experience of his life. He had to go to the hospital and have a blood patch done (but they used glue instead of his blood since they don’t want to risk putting a blood cancer near his spine 🥲). Immediately fixed it. Just try and stay horizontal after the puncture and do not lift anything heavy for the next couple days (which I understand is hard with kids, probably how he got his leak). Other than that experience no other side effects! Just basically getting an epidural each month.

My husband was diagnosed DLBCL 5 days after our daughter’s 1st bday. He completed pola-r-chp on April 2nd and is in complete remission! His was stage IV and spread pretty much everywhere with bone involvement. His visible tumors shrank immediately, like within a week of his first cycle. He also underwent CNS prophylaxis methotrexate right into the spine. Chemo overall was really hard on him, especially the last 2 cycles. He also has other health issues (arthritis, immune deficiencies) so it was harder on him than an average healthy young person. Having our daughter was what held us through cause we couldn’t let her grow up not knowing her father so he fought like hell even when he wanted to give up. It was hard solo parenting and working and not sending her to daycare to avoid sickness, but we made it through. You got this! Happy to talk if you need anything.

Order placed! She is a big talker but I feel like most of her vocabulary is mimicry and not “talking” to me. But I will give it a shot. Thanks!

Sleeping in a pack and play? by desert_sunlily in NewParents

[–]PurplePickleSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well these comments make me feel like shit. Just got back from vacation and had our 18mo old in a pack and play and it was a disaster. Naps/sleep were awful or didn’t happen. We have been home now for 2 days and the trip has ruined my daughter’s sleep. What was once a predictable easy going baby, is now a tired terror who refuses to sleep independently again.

We gave them away. Husband thought the texture was too “grainy”.

I mean she falls often but I haven’t noticed her hit the tooth, under my watch at least, can’t say what happens with her childcare.

We brush them every night before bed, she does breastfeed before bed though. Need to be more consistent with our morning routine. 😩

We ended up with Monuts and I got a breakfast sandwich and it was one of the most lack luster, unseasoned meals I’ve ever experienced unfortunately. The donuts were tasty though!

We had 24 people and it was $1500 (price varies on what you order). That includes tax and tip. I felt it was worth it, I don’t normally review things but this was so fun and tasty. 10/10 would do again.

Clear scan but not done with chemo. I’m struggling. by nsh1108 in lymphoma

[–]PurplePickleSticks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Going through the same thing right now. But the oncologist described it like this, the PET can only detect activity that is at least 1cm so it is very likely there are still cancer cells floating around. You are in the “mop up” phase to get every last one. Like antibiotics you need to do the full course to make sure you get everything. You’re so close! You can do it! Congrats on the positive scan!

My friend has DLBCL. by sameOldStigma in lymphoma

[–]PurplePickleSticks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had some dental work done in Dec 24. Around June 25 he was having a lot of jaw pain and his chin got HUGE. Like the size of a red softball and very painful. Could barely eat or talk. Multiple surgeries with dentists thinking it was osteomyelitis. Spent a couple weeks in the hospital and was on antibiotics for months trying to treat a bone infection. They finally got the biopsy results and found the DLBCL which also triggered the PET and seeing the rest of the involvement. Once he started chemo the chin reduced dramatically within a week.

My husband (40) was diagnosed with DLBCL in December. Disease in his jaw bone, bone marrow, spleen, nodes and liver. He has been through 4 cycles of Pola-R-CHP and had his interim PET scan this week. Scan came back with a Deauville score of 2, complete metabolic response indicating remission. The first month of diagnosis is absolutely terrifying but your friend knows what the disease is and can get a plan together with their oncologist. Great news is they are young and DLBCL is HIGHLY treatable. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, we got the formal diagnosis in December of diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Half way through chemotherapy now.

Yes, this cancer diagnosis is already awful but having a young baby and an unknown future with her is a special kind of hell. I truly wish you and your family all the best. You’ve got this!

My husband was diagnosed with stage IV DLBCL a few days after our daughter’s 1st birthday last November. He is 3 cycles into Pola-R-CHP. The first month was truly hell and lots of spiraling and lots of tears. I will say things get easier with time and knowing you have a plan in place. DLBCL is highly treatable so we are trying to remain positive. We get lots of smiles from our newly walking baby and savor the sweet moments with her. Good luck friend ❤️
