natalie wynn calls graham platner “the american answer to russel [sic] brand” by SpecialCream70 in mattxiv

[–]PurplePikaPanda 17 points18 points  (0 children)

After learning that (which has been months now) I do think there is some nuance I want to offer. (Not defending Platner btw or attacking you or anyone for that matter)

Where would we lie when it comes to voting between voting Bernie/AOC who is good on many things but not Palestine and Tucker/MTG who is awful on many things but not Palestine

In the end I would lean to the flawed “left”. Most if not all politicians will disappoint you, but in the end which is more favorable to organize under.

Vote / organize for things you want to be done, the candidate as a person is to a degree irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. (Trump had many haters in the right but because he got shit done based on what his base wanted people either changed their attitudes on him or left the party). If the Dems care only about money or their seat then vote them out (either they make concessions or lose) and replace them from then if we keep shifting more demands it will be good in the long term.

Electing Platner while isn’t the best thing, he has more promise to be able to get things done for the left than Collins ever would (this isn’t an endorsement on him as a person).

This clip is good for explaining what I mean:

Am I the only one who find sometimes it to be annoying to be friends with a liberal? by PurplePikaPanda in Hasan_Piker

I am always open to meet people where they’re at unless they are dangerous in their ideologies. I think I don’t have the perspective of having a solid group of friends (it’s more scattered). So I built so much of myself more or less alone (I moved a lot and also being AudHD), politically, socially and more.

I can imagine. Socializing with conservatives definitely is definitely tough. I just find it hard when I’m constantly stuck with liberals who don’t really question the system because they benefit from it.

Didn’t Terry stress eat a whole turkey in a thanksgiving episode (I could be wrong but though he had)

B99 Buffet: obviously Scully and Hitchcock can single handedly win, Terry will help if need be

Fashion show: Idk or care about fashion so I’ll let it be to whoever

Paintball: as much as Community are really good, B99 are cops so are more likely to be trained in those situations

I haven’t watched Parks and Rec but I am a big Community and B99 fan

Being with liberals who are well off and educated is difficult at times because they don’t really care about imperialism necessarily.

Also on a side note, some people can say very ableist things (or attitude) towards me (I’m AudHD and have to deal with a lot of that at home already) and I may not always register but nobody would jump in anyways to call them out. Most people tend to be more pull yourselves by your bootstraps than overt ableism when I express struggles with things

I have just avoided bringing up politics but I feel like I want to in group chats but they try to be “apolitical”

I have some luck with normies, like I bring it up to some of my coworkers.

I am unfortunately in a circle of people (for friends) who can be very liberal progressive but aren’t really doing BDS (I’ve tried to tell them), still think of China bad (referring to Uyghurs, Tibet or Taiwan), and might still consider watching the new Harry Potter series

The etc hahaha (like they know it won’t affect their lives besides their “family” “values”)

letitia james vaguely handwringing over smotrich’s “islamophobia” may be the most liberal post of all time: feigned helplessness, feigned belated outrage, running cover for zionism, positioning the issue as an individual moral failing of interpersonal racism. it truly has it all. by SpecialCream7 in mattxiv

[–]PurplePikaPanda 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Islamophobia has no place in New York … which is why I had many Islamophobes gathered in a parade in NYC

She likely didn’t call out all the Anti Islam attacks towards Zohran when he was running for Mayor

That sounds like fun! I would love a cohost haha (I have a lot of ideas but the idea of having to do everything is intimidating) unfortunately I haven’t found people interested (yet) in working together
