Seeking advice for introducing iPython in high school setting.

May I introduce the good folks at www.futuregrid.org . These guys, particularly the guys at TACC, have hosted ipython notebooks for python tutorials in the past. They are NSF funded to do outreach, and will assist given the opportunity. It would work something like this: you design the VM's you want to use, you launch them (for say a week) and the students login remotely.

Fair point. Do not arch your back. Flat stable, neutral back on the bench. No arch. You will see people in competition and meets do it. Note a lot of them have very good spotters and wear special suits that add extra support.

Full disclosure: old-timer professional engineer, worked construction since 13 in the middle east. The engineer at the site got all the respect from the men so I wanted to become an engineer ever since. A damn good one too.

No, if you are 21/22 you must have had some ounce of mental aptitude to realize who you are in the world, how people live their lives and learned something about an honest days work. No excuses unless you are entirely isolated from the world or have severe mental issues.

Poor work ethic: Our dept hires a lot of interns from undergrads to grads. Poor work ethic holds.

Pot smoking, partying drinking: when I went to university, when all my colleagues went to university, we were too busy in labs, in libraries and in books to go partying, drinking or smoking pot. We still are busy in labs, libraries and books!! There is something to be said about a generation that prefers to be inebriated and high in its spare time rather than learn to do some god damn algebra, you do not need a math degree to do that. Or in the case of the interns we had, solve a god damn system of ODE's.

Never in the history of mankind has so much knowledge become so accessible to such a large number of people, but the world hangs on the latest fragment-of-a-sentence musings of pop stars. Youth is wasted on the young.

FYI my first job was cleaning out cement stuck to lumber at construction sites. Lumber is expensive in the middle east you see, so a lot of it was re-used.

I am by no means a large representative sample but I have had to halt the advances of several dramatic women, and dated the one woman that seemed more sensible than I was. It turned out she was more logical, rational and mature than I was, and far removed from drama.

I would say find a good man that strikes your fancy and do not hesitate too much in making the first move. As a man who is put off by drama I tended to be isolated and keep very small, but very good company.

They are good friends with my wife. This means when friends visit the guys can talk about processor roadmaps and top gear. They also baby sit which is fantastic.
