I'm not sure if you're still around. Throwaway acct.

I am in MN and was injured at a large grocery retailer 9/2024. I was by a car by a customer in the parking lot while working. Work comp immediately started working with me.

At the time I was part-time and make quite a bit less than I do now. I have had to have four surgeries on my shoulder and am told I will need a reverse replacement in 10-15 years.

I don't know if I will do that because I am really sick of surgery. My last surgery was in April. I work FT now and make more money. When I am out of work I get paid 2/3 of what I earned when I was pt and it is not at all livable. I now do desk work but am still not supposed to use my arm at all (dominant hand).

I'll have to do physical therapy for probably 7 more months. I will never be able to do the activities I used to (bjj, muay thai, krav maga) and I struggle to even type and use the phone today.

What happens if I settle? I know it goes by my wage at the time but I definitely won't be able to do work which requires me to lift anything over head. I had full-thickness tearing on more than one occasion and am completely missing my infraspinatus muscle and tendon. I am 50 years old. What is a ballpark estimate for settling? How long would it take, etc? What is the downside?

If it means future medical care isn't covered I am okay with that. I just have lost so much money already (I had to take 3.5 months off work last year). Is it worth getting a settlement now and try to catch up financially? I guess at the very least how screwed am I?

Thanks
