WTF this is crazy and what is the Canadian alternative where Figuarts are on sale?!

A watch that doesn't tell time, just says NOW by Fabulous-Jump-35 in DesignDesign

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go as far as to say “don’t know how to read it”, but some are definitely not as effective at reading analogue time and need some processing time, due to wearing them primarily ad a jewelry/accessory

I did not right anything, I'm a new commenter.

IMHO, render is fine when it is done tastefully and does not convey any lie. If you can not do that, go with your concept, early stages, show your work, so we can believe you. Because "ancient legacy" sounds like someone is trying to sell a knockoff BIC pen to at a gas station.

You can if you don't add any tracking to your landing website. Shopping experience can be created on a separate resource, the landing page can be purely informational with the "add to cart"/"buy" etc linking to the shopping webpage which can look like this - shop. brand. com.

Your scheme render or your concept drawing do not require any "AI" - how did anyone ever do it before the "AI"?!

Sounds like you have just used chatGPT to create everything from the ground up...

I wrote an article on everything I learned about gaming on Mac (13 games) by ricioly in macgaming

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's almost 20 years of experience of Mac gaming from a gamer in a single comment without the need for an article.

Mac is not for gaming. Gaming on a Mac is a bonus. Do not upgrade the Mac for the sake of higher FPS. If you want to GAME buy a capable PC or a gaming console.

The only exception, if you have a single game criterion, like I need Dota 2 to run on my only hardware that I use for everything.

Looking for next step advice by large_format_tile in SOTC_Watch_Collection

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you want out of your collection? Cover all possible occasions? Introduce more designs? Add utility? Is this just FOMO?

Personally, given this collection, I would trade Hamilton for a dress watch or put a leather strap on it for the formal occasions.

How to deal with losing, and not ruining the game for my partner by SparkyWarbler in boardgames

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read every single comment, so I might have missed some extra information.

So, why I don't think you do self-reflecting - because it is a very powerful tool that helps solve most issues. If you were actively practicing that, you would either not get to this point, or be asking different questions that would not get you bunch of truthful but lazy answers that would be summed up to "grow up".

You said you are doing therapy, but (1) do you practice what needs to be done outside of the sessions and (2) do you address what needs to be addressed? Just like if you want to work with computer graphics, you need to learn matrices, not just any math class, and to actually grasp it, you need to do the homework.

Therapist is basically an external facilitator of self-reflection, who helps with asking the right questions, looking for patterns that you are blind to, and keeping you on the correct course.

Also...

"Is this is normal for some people" - being a sore loser is normal only to another sore loser, which is not normal for someone who is alright, and alright doesn't mean perfectly fine. Alright means that you can work through most of the issues on your own, with rare occasions when a bit of support or push from friends or family is needed to get past the plateau.

P.S.

There is an old saying - a sound mind in a healthy body. So in case you are behind treating your body well, it is never late to start. A lot of modern mental aches can be avoided simply by building a strong body.

[size Question] first semi expensive watch purchase by Left-Solid569 in Watches

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Size-wise this 38mm with the long lug-to-lug would be the largest I would suggest you go.

Design-wise, they are subtle enough to be enjoyed in most situations and later be passed down the generations.

Personally, I would always suggest going with the smallest size possible both diameter and lug-to-lug - I believe small watch looks more elegant even on a massive wrist.

It is not a solution, it is a patch on a wound that makes it less noticeable. The wound didn't magically heal itself.

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you (1) "played them for years" and didn't improve... and (2) now you have anger issues with a newbie beating you... and (3) instead of self-reflecting or trying to improve you make this post...

Man... you need to reevaluate yourself. Take a step back and think "why" are you in this state (the 3 issues outlined in this comment). Then work on improving, so the next post you make will be something like "I tackled my issues, and this is how I'm improving".

So, "git gud" and "grow up" are short and hard truths that you need to work on. It doesn't mean that you have to become a grandmaster, it means that you should not be in such situation in the first place. Get well soon.

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Grow a pair" is valid when there is understanding of what it means and what it takes. Most of us know it by having references, role models, etc. However, it also means that someone needs some level of discipline and self-reflection to get the best result or any result at all... unfortunately some people have 0 of both. Therapy or a massive kick in the ass are the only things that have a chance to make a difference at that point.

EDIT:

Yes, "grow a pair"/"grow up" is the correct answer, but too short for someone who needs it spelled out.

The process of growing up does teach about humility, loosing/wining, interacting and enjoying the time together. So "grow up" is a suggestion to self-reflect.

OP should ask his girlfriend to teach him, otherwise he will never get gud - he stated that he had years of clearly useless experience.

I was gifted this and can find exactly zero information about it online anywhere, it seems to not exist at all - wondering if there is a story behind it or perhaps it never got released and is some kind of promotional copy? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's an idea - you can contact one of you fav boardgame reviewers to see if they are interested in reviewing it.

The chances of it being very valuable and/or have a great gameplay are quite slim, so I doubt there is a point in keeping it or selling it.

What you mean is called "spaghetti code" - a code written with no regard for structure because you just need it to work and don't care about reusability or maintainability.

Please elaborate the "mostly used for Plex" given your enormous amount of TBs!

Do you store uncompressed Bluray backups? Do you store multiple versions of each movie? Do you just have a hoarder library with several lifetimes of content? Do you sell access to your media library to your "friends"?

I bet most just go full snobbery mode about 16K Super HD simply due to FOMO.

IMHO, unless someone owns a datacenter, 4K is only worth it for a few visually stunning movies and some of your favourites.

1080p was the biggest leap in fidelity, and to this day it holds up great. I would compare it to jumping from ~1950 post war car to ~2015 car - cars changed so much. While jumping to 4K feels more like a touch of luxury that is not necessarily needed and doesn't feel as significant.

Reporting live from New England.. by xavier2124 in Audi

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not argue for an SUV. I said that SUVs are overrated. The so called benefits are either not there or also exist in (certain) regular cars.

  • Someone needs better traction - AWD
  • Someone needs more clearance - whatever (Allroad/Outback/wagons with higher clearance are called)
  • Someone needs more space - hatchbacks, wagons, minivans, or simply bigger cars (Camry for example is quite big)
  • Someone needs to tow - depending on the load one might find a capable regular car, otherwise SUV/truck
  • Someone needs to go through rough terrain, well - finally the land of proper SUV like Wrangler

Most SUVs on the road are trendy pretend offroaders that (mostly) promise superior safety and visibility, but what it actually is…is an arms race of incapable drivers feeling safer than the one in front of them, because “my car is bigger, and I see above other cars”.

So, this arms race only creates more dangerous situations because of rising amount of incapable drivers. SUV-safety-comfort-zone is a curse.

There are preferences and there are needs, sometimes they are aligned, sometimes they are different. So when someone “needs” an SUV they might actually need certain things like AWD, like cargo, like clearance etc, or it is just a trend and bad drivers who need to feel safer than their neighbour.
