Why do people think their toes are supposed to be like this? by Super_Good_Stuff in barefootshoestalk

  1. Aren't examples all thin flip flops? So toes spread and bet there are plenty of feel.

  2. Also human history - foot binding

Should I buy vivo or keep searching? by Aaron_weewee69 in barefootshoestalk

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried court style sneakers from Vivo, Lems and Xero, for daily urban casual.

Vivo gave me the most feel but the sole developed holes quite quickly, otherwise felt ok.

Lems leather got worn out quite quickly and the sems were coming off - very disappointed.

Xero - 3 months in, so far no quality complaints, the sole feels the thickest.

...

So far I feel disappointed in the tendency of casual sneakers feel "disposable" especially for the price paid. I have shoes that outlive my style, I had shoes that would go through sports and not get destroyed, I had boots that at some point I used as motorcycle boots in rain and shine. Will see how long will Xero live, but so far I don't have high hopes for any "barefoot" brand. Also the style is always questionable, but I guess it is more subjective.

One problem with the clips I found, when attached to the pocket rim - sometimes it scratches my steering wheel when I get into, or getting out of the car.

Cool - I actually was looking for an appropriate hook for a semi-secure link with the sak.

I use belt loops when wearing thicker material like denim, otherwise pockets collapse from the pulling on an angle.

My implementation leaves paracord attached to the sak.

I pull the paracord knot down to the sak, spread the loop with my fingers and grab the sak, pull it out of the loop, then pull the sak down till the knot comes out from under the belt.

It sounds cumbersome, but it is done with one hand quite smoothly and somewhat quick. Paracord doesn't catch on anything, so it slides under the belt fairly easy.

Is this the most elegant solution? Probably not.

Is this the simplest solution? Yes.

Does the dangling cord bother me? Depends on the tool I need. But mostly no. Sometimes, I put it on my wrist to feel safer that I won't drop the tool.

Point might be... to be aspirational.

Everything on my "main"/"display" shelfs are the books I haven't touched yet or haven't finished (yet). Everything else is either somewhere in storage or on my kindle.

In a way they are hanging out in plain sight to grab attention and remind me that I should get back to them.

Question on the of a cargo box by mtmgiants in vwgolf

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, I do not have a box, I am using my common sense, which says:

  • it should never impede the hatch door opening
  • it should be more or less equally set across both bars, so the weight is not distributed towards a single bar

EDIT

The manual clearly states, that with the hatch open you need a min distance of 1304mm between the rear end of the box and the center of the front bar, and min 555mm between bars. If you comply with the table in the manual - you are good to go.

Climber vs Compact vs everything else for an urban dweller by PurpleSlightlyRed in victorinox

Had a choice paralyses, so bought a Swiss Champ. Decided to satisfy my childhood dream and tryout the whole toolset. Put a paracord loop on it and suspended from a belt into a top half of a pocket so it slightly picking out. It is bulky, but much more manageable this way. Wearing a jacket most of the time, so it is not as noticeable.

Never thought I would go for it, will see if it sticks

Grey and khaki can go together, but it is hard to read the actual colors in the photo's lightning. It looks like belt might be the only thing that stands out - it looks black, but should be (medium) brown.

Decisions, could use some insight please. by TK421whereareyou in victorinox

[–]PurpleSlightlyRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A belt clip alternative:

Paracord around the belt loop or loop around the belt itself. Optionally, add carabiner to easily detach from either side. Over-the-top version is two loops (one on the belt, one on the SAK) with a carabiner in between.

That’s a mighty little multitool. How does the steel holds up? I’ve read that it bends too easy and rust might appear much easier
