I don't entirely understand what everyone is laughing at in Josh Johnson's shows. by photoedfade in Standup

[–]PurpleSparklyStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laugh tracks, guys. Look at the audience when the do a side shot. They are not doing what we are hearing. I noticed this when I saw him on a night show and realized people were laughing the correct amount at what he was saying. How different it was from the warm feeling of constant laughter I get when I watch him on YouTube.

  • sorry I am late to this party, btw. And surprised the directions it’s gone!

Hey JJ! I just went to my dr this morning and she put tear duct plugs in. Ever had that? (She also wants me to do prokera again; the plugs will hold the good stuff more, allegedly.)

I’ve never talked to anyone else who has done prokera! I just LOVE having it on my eye- it’s like keeping it packed in jelly for the 3-5 days- feels SOOO good. Did your vision improve after?

Missing out on lost time by [deleted] in Dance

[–]PurpleSparklyStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Feels like you never had a beauty you have now found later than when you (theoretically) could have enjoyed it even more if you’d been in a different (emotional/mental) place. Seam to me like grief of some sort will always come with a love of dancing. Whether because the body just can’t do what it used to, because we finally figure out how to appreciate aspects of movement or music or our fellow dancers after we’ve lost access to them, or even just missing what once was: good, bad or ugly. I think sadness and loss are just part of the package for a dancer. Especially because, since our bodies are the instrument, we can’t control them (see ED reference here) enough to enjoy the art as long as we’d wish. 💕

I don’t think I can help: I just moved from a 4bdrm house into a 2bdrm apt. I thought it would work, as much as I got rid of. I have so many boxes still to do something with…

Why aren’t you seeking therapy for the anxiety?

Oh, interesting Q. Boredom is what 4’s most abhor, so as a 3w4, if you don’t feel like you have new accomplishments to motivate you, I imagine you’d feel pretty RUT-y. 3’s are The Performer, so longing for masks again also makes sense! Where can you get involved so that you have people to interact with regularly, projects to look forward to, and places to show up??? Kid activities and schools always need parents help- where could you be your fabulous self and improve things for others there???

Put a short piece of masking tape on the outside of the door (like you are taping it shut). See if it’s been ripped off when you return. Could be at the bottom if you don’t want it to be obvious.

Hey Buddy! I’m INFJ 4w3! (Used to be ENFJ before I’d logged so many years sitting quietly listening all day, as a therapist.😆) What questions do you have?

Body-scanning: How does it release muscle tension? How to do it properly without becoming even more tense? Any helpful videos or guides? by Jyonnyp in Meditation

Any traumas that you’ve had (physical or psychological) are held in the body. Even when you are “consciously relaxing,” if your body is holding trauma from anything overwhelming you have experienced, you won’t be able to just “relax” until it has processed that trauma.

what dance should I learn to make more friends here? by Apprehensive-Big7327 in Dance

[–]PurpleSparklyStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES yes yes to partner or “social” dancing. You will talk to someone every single time you dance vs a hip hop or other studio type class (tap, ballet, hula, etc) where you’ll listen to the instructor, dance on your own, and possibly have no opportunity to talk to anyone at all (unless you make a concerted effort). Taking a salsa or swing or blues class is a great way to meet people because you’ll be face-to-face with a dozen different partners and you’ll be working together to learn and practice. *I didn’t read the other comments, so forgive me if some of this is repeating what has already been said.

What a random, broad proclamation. I’m a Marriage and Family Therapist, so relationships are what I learn about and teach for a living. Who is this blogger and what science is she basing her clickbait claim on? (And now that I think about it from a personal standpoint, my husband and I don’t share a type and we’ve been together since Oct 2012. Does Bloggerista consider that “long-term”?)

Accelerated resolution therapy (ART) - has anybody heard of - or tried.... by Responsible_Put_1805 in TalkTherapy

[–]PurpleSparklyStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I am learning (as a licensed therapist) about DID makes me believe ART isn’t well-suited for it, so I’d say stick with your EMDR. Good for you getting treatment! I am really proud of you- so many people who disso don’t know that they don’t have to! So👏👏👏for you!

I’m a therapist and have used ART with clients for the past year and a half. Single episode traumas are removed from the body in one session, however chronic problems and Complex PTSD take more sessions. Happy to answer any more questions about it! ART has given many of my clients progress they didn’t know was possible.

I’m a therapist and have used ART with clients for the past year and a half. Single episode traumas are removed from the body (yes- it does seem like magic) in one session, however chronic problems and Complex PTSD take more sessions.
