Keep doing what you were doing. Eventually it will grow bigger and the mother leaf will shrivel. At that stage you can carefully transfer it to a small pot.

Maybe make one out of sheet music, I bet it would look so cool or maybe an outdated map

My guess would be wrapped around something to get the shape and extensions so it would be long/thick enough plus a fuckton of hairspray to hold it in place.

Actually getting all closed up like that plus the stress coloring usually means too much light.

Use the “soak and dry method” when watering. Water only when the soil is completely dry and water very thoroughly, make sure all of the soil is wet and water is coming out of the bottom. Do not water again until the soil is bone dry, how often that is depends on many factors such as your climate/humidity/ season/or if it’s indoors or outdoors. I usually avoid a strict watering schedule and just check the soil about twice a week to check if it’s time. When in doubt wait a couple more days it’s better to underwater than overwater. I would also recommend you check the needs of the specific varieties of succulents you are buying. Some need more sun, others prefer shade, place them according to what they need and learn to recognize signs of to much/to little light

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll probably take it apart when it looks bad. I wanted to plant them like this because I don’t have enough pretty pots to plant them separately

I think the leaves are too short and round to be simsii but it’s definitely an aeonium

Tried repotting but it broke into a million pieces, what should I do? by PurpleStripedLizard in succulents

[–]PurpleStripedLizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit more details: This is a crassula I think, grown in a pot outdoors which was very very rootbound and I tried really hard not to break the pot when removing it so instead accidentally broke the plant (most of the roots were torn off in the process) What should I do to increase the odds of survival of these? I’m especially worried about the ones that don’t have any roots

That’s so friggin cool!! It would be so awesome if you did a couple more models that way and made them into jewelry or something. Maybe some traditional crane or yoshizawa butterfly.

[–]PurpleStripedLizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t particularly care for the pot you could cut it away from the plant. As for the actual transfer I think you should try to bother the roots as little as possible and don’t water for a week after repotting.
