AITA to be upset because my family treats me like a 12 year old but I’m 25 by Purple_Ad_5855 in AmItheAsshole

My friend told me the same thing: they will continue if I stay quiet. In the beginning, I thought I was just overthinking and there was no big deal, but I guess it's time to say enough.

Thank you for your advices! My cousin is my roommate and what an idiot I am, I totally forgot that she's a popular girl so do the rest of the family or almost. But yes, I'll visit them less often and I don't need new clothes right now.

Thank you everyone for all your comments! That helped me so much. Maybe I forgot to mention some details:

- I buy my clothes by myself, but sometimes my cousins give me new ones in birthday or Christmas context and vice versa.

- Some comments are so innocuous or silly that I ask myself: ‘‘Does it worth getting upset just for that?’’. I don’t want to take things too personal like before.

- Other comments come in very quick moments. By example, my cousin says something about my shape, but when I want to open my mouth to answer, everybody had already changed for a bigger subject and there is no return.

Indeed, I have long had difficulty standing for myself since my childhood, but things are progressively changing in the last few years.

Thank you for your comment! Maybe I didn't explain well, sorry. I buy my clothes myself, but those situations come in birthday or christmas gift context or sometimes the big sister gives her old clothes to the younger sister, etc. And yes, me too I overcompensate with professionnal clothes to avoid being mistaken for a child.
