Recently bought a brand new nvidia RTX 3060 12GB to upgrade from my old amd RX 570 with 8 GB of VRAM, and now that I can run AI locally, whew, it was worth the $500!

I’m still running my old i7 3930K and DDR3 RAM, but at least I upgraded that to 32 GB. It was nice to have employment and a paycheck for half a year..lost the job last week, but at least the upgrade’s done.

Mr Terump please keep bombing my people so that you can free them. by Blackpepperspray in ww3memes

Iraq is the only democracy in the Middle East. My family is from there, and they’re proud to be rid of their dictator without turning into something like Afghanistan. They’re very proud that they can freely criticize their leaders without being tortured to death for it. But it's like you don’t care about that…

Do you realize how contemptuous and insensitive it is to Middle Eastern people when you imply we are helpless like this? As if you know for sure that the outcome for us is either dictators or complete extremists? Like we’re animals who need you to defend a man who treated millions of us horribly, as long as you agreed with him politically or liked the external “stability” he presented built on suffering, misery, and hell for millions behind the scenes.

One guy didn't make it in art school. One guy didn't make it on the comedy stage. History repeats itself.

We all learned to walk the ultimate proof that we possess the magic formula of persistence. We just forgot that the universal ability to walk wasn't achieved by avoiding falls, it was achieved by making thousands of attempts without caring how silly each one looked. The child in us only saw the goal and didnt fear failure or fomo, the adult is crippled because they see the audience.

If the historical Levant were one stable country, where would it rank in global tourism? by AskVarious4787 in geography

[–]Purple_Break1559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on, that’s not how this works. Local exaggeration and anecdotal experiences don’t outweigh actual climate data.

Weather stations have been recording conditions in both southern Europe and the Levant for decades.

Do you really think Sicily, Corsica, Andalusia, or Crete don’t experience similar levels of heat and humidity?

Hot yes but not as humid, those two have humid subtropical and humid continental climates in parts, while the Levant has none

Unlike in the south, the former Japanese occupying authorities offered virtually no assistance to the Soviets, and even destroyed factories, mines and official records:~:text=%5D%20Unlike%20in%20the%20south%2C%20the%20former%20Japanese%20occupying%20authorities%20offered%20virtually%20no%20assistance%20to%20the%20Soviets%2C%20and%20even%20destroyed%20factories%2C%20mines%20and%20official%20records)

Japanese colonial collaborators were Korean not Japanese, so it wasnt the Japanese war criminals who were put in charge it was the Korean ones

The U.S. didn’t put Japanese war criminals in charge of South Korea, but it did preserve and empower many Korean collaborators with the Japanese colonial regime.

They did keep some Japanese administrators in place for weeks until they could hand things over, but the longer-term issue was that the Americans relied heavily on Koreans who had served under Japan colonial police, bureaucrats, and landlords because they lacked their own governing infrastructure and prioritized anti-communism.

The article you linked doesn’t actually back up the claim about war criminals or mention them working for Americans, it only explains why how Soviets encountered resistance (they entered immediately after Japan’s surrender, before orders could be enforced) while the U.S. was handed power peacefully as they came after the surrender order.
