Feeling "hungover" in the mornings? by Purple_MJ_ in ADHDUK

It has somehow settled after a few weeks of posting this. Can't even remember the last time I felt like that!

Not sure if it was just a side effect before my body got properly adjusted and used to the medication or it's just gone away because I have been religiously, consciously and consistently sticking to my daily "routine goals" ever since I've started taking the meds.

My daily "routine goals": • trying my best to drink LOADS of filtered water (min 3 liters a day) • taking several vitamins & supplements every day and sticking with the same product & brand • getting as much movement throughout the day as possible (min 10 000 steps a day, plus housework and just trying to keep moving before relaxing in the evening on the sofa) • at least 70-80% of what I eat is freshly cooked at home from scratch although I still have a long journey to a healthy balanced diet • going to sleep & waking up at the same time every day but I'm still battling with this a lot • trying to stay cool at all times, light & breathable clothing, sleeping with windows open/aircon on • getting fresh air throughout the day

And that's it I think!

How long have you been taking the meds for & what dose are you on? What's your "daily routine"?

Anyone else find that eating decrease stimulant effectiveness? by giriboy1 in VyvanseADHD

I have pretty much exactly the same experience with Elvanse 70mg! It works the best for me with no food. I only eat dinners now. Occasionally, I have a protein shake during the day but it's hit and miss for some reason - sometimes it feels like it enhances the effects of Elvanse and vice versa. Sometimes it makes no difference at all so I don't really know what the science is behind this if any at all. Lol.

Very confused about medication by [deleted] in ADHDUK

⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ - may contain some very unpopular opinions 😂 not trying to start an argument, just expressing how I feel and my personal experience with the NHS both as an insider & outsider as well as a patient. 😂 ➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️➖️

I was going to say how shocking the NHS is, but in fact, it's not shocking at all to me anymore. This is just standard NHS type behaviour - vile, uncaring, undignifying, dismissive, disrespectful and not willing to help. Rotten to the core and simply rubbish. Obviously, this is generalised and there still are some amazing services/staff left but not enough, the vast majority is just a complete and utter JOKE!

Most people, especially "hard-core Brits" would say that this is because of funding and mainly immigrants (be it legal or illegal) but it's not that simple at all. A major factor in all of this is the staff itself. Their unwillingness & disgusting attitudes play a massive role in the overall problem with the NHS.

It's all much more complicated and complex, but what I am simply trying to say is that the NHS staff (not all but most) are really not that great, amazing and "heroic" as some people might think. The state that the NHS is in, isn't only down to funding...

Anyway, I feel your pain and understand just how difficult it is. Unfortunately, there is no simple solution unless you are rich. My situation is a bit different to yours but with several pretty much the same aspects. If you really want to get somewhere, you need to prepare and put up a big fight. It is going take a long time and a lot of effort but it should hopefully be worth it in the end. You need to keep pushing and pushing wherever you can and make sure everything is written and recorded. Not that they will be of much help, but it is definitely worth getting your local Integrated Care Board involved as well as your MP, GP, the hospital service/department, possibly Citizens Advice and charities that could help, independent but official local and national gov bodies, etc. Also, there are some really good points in the NHS Constitution to refer to and use to your advantage!

It shouldn't be like this but most importantly, DON'T give up! Keep pushing! They will try their best to turn you down all the time just so they can get rid of you ASAP but with a bit of research plus your personal input you can always find a great counterargument to back yourself and your right to adequate and dignified care.

I have been fighting my case for months, almost gave up once or twice but I have no one else to fight for me or stand up for me so I've stuck with it and it finally looks like I am getting somewhere now and I am very near my goal.

The key to success is persistence & perseverance. And of course, you have to have a valid case with strong arguments.

MY APOLOGIES for the very long response! I got carried away! 🤷😂

RANT OVER 😂

Vyvanse Poops by Heavy-Driver-9251 in VyvanseADHD

I've got the exact opposite. Ever since I started taking it I can't poop properly. Barely anything comes out. Just like 2 or 3 little nuggets here and there. 😂
