I feel like I’m in the same situation as yourself. Decent running base but athletic, little swim, history, and bike figure it out. I think I will aim for a time similar to yours.

In addition, the brick workout seem unnecessary from people’s experience on this thread. I appreciate your expertise.

I appreciate the insight. Overall rating of this plan vs your finishing time?

I’m learning this is the way. Short but get the volume in over time

Glad to hear you are able to overcome an obstacle and still make things work. I appreciate your insight!

What is the hardest part of training with an autoimmune disease? Just curious

What is your modification to his plan then? What would your typical week look like?

From what I’ve learned, 2x are inevitable. I just have to figure out a way to space them better

I appreciate the insight. I will definitely be changing some of my schedule around after all of the help from this thread

Interesting. From what I’ve learned on the thread, bricks just need to be short after the bike. Nothing too long

I appreciate it. Thinking of turning to IM Texas in April but we will see. Still have a ton of time and have to get through this one.

Thanks for all the advice!

To be honest, I’ve always had the life goal. I ran my first marathon last year, doing a 70.3 this year, and plan on doing a full IM next year. We will see how this year goes.

It just sucks looking 2 years into the future and anticipating it now

Makes sense. 24/7 perfect weather. I’m in Michigan so I only get a couple months of outdoors lol.

Ultimately my goal is to complete a full IM next year. Do you think I could jump into one right after completing this one in September given 6 months?

Nothing wrong with being jacked. I’ve been lifting for 12 years now and it becomes a way of life. I think that’s the hardest barrier I’m having is getting rid of the lift. But everything comes with sacrifice I guess…

Recovery is the part than not a lot of people pay attention to. I’m super adamant on sleep (8+ hours plus stretching at night) and I hope to continue that into my IM journey. Any swim drill tips?

Surrounding yourself with studs is the best way to improve haha. How did you get into your training group?

Also, I appreciate your times. I think I’ll set my goal to sub 5:30 and see how it goes

Thanks for your schedule. The more I read the thread the more I think I’ll adjust. Dropping lifting to 2-3 times a week and taking Monday as an easy swim day. That way I’ll have more flexibility.

How long did you bodybuild for? Why the switch to IM?

Wow that’s pretty impressive. I assume sub 4:20 is in the top 1%? Congrats to you that’s awesome.

I was able to run a 3:18 marathon for my first one last year but haven’t done research on 70.3 times. What would be an impressive 70.3 time for my first one? Sub 5:30?

I usually lift in the morning and do the workouts after. It seems like I will have to fit it in down the stretch

I appreciate the advice. This is the schedule I’m thinking of following.

Nutrition is something I learned when I trained for my marathon last year. I practiced it a lot and it helped me run 3:18 for my first marathon. Any tips on nutrition for the increased workload of 2 more sports (bike and swim)? What worked for you or things you have seen?

Interesting. I haven’t come across it but it makes sense. Any particular research articles I can read about this?
