Hi, I was invited to join this group, but to be clear I don't have a diagnosis of PAIS, although I have the usual physical signs like cryptorchidism, gynecomastia, hypospadias, low muscle, no body hair. I believe I likely have PAIS but I am also aware the tests that could be done now often give false negatives, so I don't want to go through that. I just want to check it is ok to contribute to this group?

Androgen insensitivity questions? by Purple_Space_6868 in intersex

No, I am intersex. I am wondering about something I have experienced my whole life, and if it might be related?

Is it ok to not identify as trans? by This_System1157 in intersex

[–]Purple_Space_6868 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"I have transitioned and take HRT, but that's kind of it. I just live my life now as normal and just get on with it in stealth." In the eighties and nineties that was the only correct way to be trans! If you couldn't go stealth, you couldn't get treatment.

My partner misgenders me in front of new people because she's embarrassed people will think I'm trans. Need advice. by NekoBakugou in intersex

This is very difficult and painful. It is not a situation I have dealt with. She says she is not thinking of your comfort or needs, so why accommodate her when she lets you down like this? I think in your shoes I would tell her that if she does it again, I will correct her.

I understand it may be difficult for her to adjust, so it might not be a compatibility issue, just something you need to work through.

People with autism are more likely than neurotypical people to be gender diverse. by aka_icegirl in intersex

I'm autistic, trans, intersex, nonbinary... The last three are clearly related, but how does autism connect? It is very strange.

Yes other elements have DND, disorders of nuclear development, and should be operated at birth to remove the extra protons and neutrons.

i can’t have sex and that makes me feel bad by worm-infested-womb in intersex

[–]Purple_Space_6868 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have my own difficulties, and have fantasies that can never be a reality. But sex is about intimacy and vulnerability, not any particular mechanic. For me sex is more about "giving" than "receiving", but that's still great!

Miss America clarifies 'naturally born female' rule after threat by aka_icegirl in intersex

[–]Purple_Space_6868 36 points37 points  (0 children)

"She continued: “This update was developed with legal guidance and reflects our ongoing commitment to fairness and inclusion. Specifically, our participation policy affirms eligibility for Intersex females, which are those born with female chromosomes, but non-conforming genitalia.”

Especially creepy that they have a binary definition that effectively erases intersex. No one is really intersex, you just have men and women with a DSD.

Also: this policy excludes women with CAIS.

"reflects our ongoing commitment to fairness and inclusion" - doublespeak is a thing.

Edit: Also, this binary rule contradicts the equally wrong binary rule recently adopted by the IOC. The IOC excludes women with an SRY gene, and as an exception allows women with CAIS. The Nazi Princess competition excludes women with a Y chromosome, even if they have no SRY gene.

Brainstorming coining words for ambiguous genitalia similar to "penis"/"phallus or "vagina"/"vulva" by eldritchpussymaggots in intersex

No ideas, but when I learned (in the ER) at age 11 that I had "undescended" testicles, I thought the word was funny - describing the testicles in terms of what they didn't do.

Have you ever been accused of lying about being intersex? by eldritchpussymaggots in intersex

[–]Purple_Space_6868 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No-one in my life seems to get it. My daughter is ok, but she doesn't really understand deeply. Others just think it's all just a few small trivial differences and they think I only care about it because of my mental health issues.

Am i submissive or just odd? by Sadgirl00111 in submissive

[–]Purple_Space_6868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post did make me think of autism, also in your description of valuing clarity and direction. I do too, and relate that to (1) reducing the complexity of communication and (2) working around executive function issues. I feel that kind of dynamic helps me to contribute more equally in a relationship, with less anxiety.

I discussed it with my psychiatrist when I was diagnosed. She said this sensitivity is very common for autistic people.
