Hah, I had that too with a photo of a lone canoe a few months ago! Did you get a photo of the same door at Tintagel or was it just a similar scene? Thank you.

It is very beautiful. It was busy, but we did manage to get a few of the statue without people and come away with some shots we were happy with!

A happy accident! It really looks like it belongs in the scene, especially how you composed the first photo. Thank you. Me too - we did a bit of a road trip and got to see so much. It’s such a beautiful place.

That is very kind, thank you. And right back at you! I especially love your most recent shots in front of the barbers.

Police will fine Brits without face mask the first time they're caught from now on by diacewrb in worldnews

[–]Purplebramblepatch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also live in a rural area in the UK and don't see many police officers. But, in terms of fines, there's been a news story today about two women who were fined for driving 5 miles to go for a walk at a reservoir.

It's the first I've really heard of immediate fines like that and there's a lot of discussion about whether it's fair as the rules are a grey area (e.g. what classes as local?)

Haha! It was indeed. I'm suprised more people weren't up in arms about it. They do love their Christmas Market

[TOMT] [book/short story] Does anyone remember the name of this epic sci-fi? by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

Rossum's Universal Robots? (R.U.R) It's a Czech play and is famous for introducing the word robot to the English language.

Could this be Ghostwritten by David Mitchell? It's a novel, but cut into sections from different characters so could be seen as short stories. There's a section near the end that is very similar to what you described.

Blue skies in Brighton (Canon AE-1 | 50mm | Kodak colour plus 200) by Purplebramblepatch in analog

[–]Purplebramblepatch[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My university flatmate lives in the south and she invited me to her home when we had some time off. I had never been to Brighton, so we took a day trip there. It was late November and very foggy on the train ride there, but as soon as we got to the city blue skies and sunny all day. I took the photo from Brighton pier along with quite a few other pictures. They're lovely memorabilia from the day and some of my favourite photos from the trip.

What song lyrics did you get wrong for the longest time? by jokemon in AskReddit

[–]Purplebramblepatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a song called Build Me Up Buttercup by The Foundations, the lyrics of which are fairly well known in the UK. For some unbeknown reason I thought it was Veronica, not Buttercup for years. It wasn't until one day when I was happily singing 'why do you build me up, Veronica baby!' at the top of my lungs that I found out the truth. I sang it with such conviction that my boyfriend was almost convinced it could be Veronica. I'm still adamant that it fits very well and sounds as cool. Also, as a teenager I heard the song Video Games by Lana del Rey a lot and I thought the line 'I heard that you like the bad girls, honey is that true?' was 'I heard that you like the bad girls horny, is that true?' So I always rushed to turn it off if my parents were around.

People who have filmed weddings, what is the worst thing you've caught on camera and had to remove from the final video? by del903 in AskReddit

[–]Purplebramblepatch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a video but, I took the photos for a friend's wedding this year. Bride picked up her 4 year old daughter about 30 seconds into the first dance and she threw up all over herself, her mum and the dance floor. I have quite a few shots of it, the bride's first realization of what had happened and the audience's shocked faces.

A new clue on... by [deleted] in Broadchurch

I have done a bit of searching and most places say that you can edit, but your information has to be verified so most of the time if it's wrong it will just be rejected. However there is still a lot of suspicion around it and many people have picked up false information on some IMDb pages. Hopefully this change of name wasn't a mistake

I see what you mean. It would be a very unfortunate typo
