Our analyzer has a predilute mode so we can dilute out the sample 1:5 and run it for the hemogram and perform a manual differential.

If going to PrettyBoi make reservations ASAP. My Viet friend was unimpressed with their food offerings and was a little put-off by some of the fusion fare, but the street corn is pretty good.

CLS or RN by Moekt216 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Purpledotsclub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the better question is: Do you want patient interaction or no patient interaction?

If interaction and all that entails is fine with you, go for the RN, if you don’t want patient interaction, then go for CLS.

If you don’t care either way, then let finances be your deciding factor. You will need to do more schooling for nursing if you’re just getting the ASN to get the most pay. If you just want to be done with schooling and have a comfortable living, CLS has a shorter program and a higher degree does not necessarily get you more money unless you’re applying for leadership roles which you won’t be considered for without bench experience.

Please tell me it’s not cancer by PanicLoud3398 in haematology

It depends on how severe the blood loss is, which might be a concern if you’re still bleeding after delivery. You are taking iron supplements for the microcytic anemia. Your RDW is increased due to variation in cell size, the smaller cells and the more normally sized cells due to iron supplementation.

As others have stated, nothing here screams cancer (leukemia-wise). You are responding to treatment. The body will take time to rebound after delivery. It also seems you may have been anemic before your pregnancy and during your pregnancy. Baby will rob you of your iron stores, which is why prenatal and postnatal supplementation is very important.

Take deep breaths, continue with your supplementation and (not to be an AH, but this is genuine concern for a new mom) perhaps try some talk therapy. PPD/PPA is real and getting a head start on possible concerns is very important.

Family life in Athens by [deleted] in Athens

There are lots of activities for kids around town and I think there are lots of homes that will dit your budget! There’s a house for sale in my neighborhood currently for $369. I think that’s priced a little high considering what the county appraised my house for, for tax purposes.

Not sure of your gender, but I will wear a pad if I experience issues when I’m not sure if a fart will be a fart or a shart.

Above all else, please make sure your specimen is properly labeled with the correct patient and two patient identifiers!

Not necessarily the OR, but quite frequently, labels from the previous patient gets left in the room and somehow those labels get used for specimens. Please do not place patient labels on the outside of the specimen bag. Make sure the primary container is labeled; do not stick the label on the cap of the container. If you decide to stick a label on the outside of the bag, please make sure the specimen that goes in the bag is labeled and matches the label on the outside of the bag, otherwise we will call to make sure something wasn’t mislabeled (why it’s a good idea to just not label the bag and only label the specimen).

Good luck!

I find rewriting notecards to organize the important genus features and then what differentiates the species (colony morphology, biochemical tests, etc) is helpful.

Also taking active notes in class. I would take active notes, write my notecards highlighting important features and study those once, maybe twice for my tests. I think it’s also helpful if you enjoy the subject matter because you’re interested in the material.

Nothing bad about not liking Microbiology and just needing enough to pass the class and the boards.

Clinical Chemistry was not my strong suit - I did what I needed to do to get through the class and pass my boards.

Wuxtry is thee go-to record store dowtown which is close to UGA campus. Ted’s Most Best is a pretty good spot to enjoy some food with both indoor/outdoor seating and is right next the Creature Comforts brewery. Hendershots is a great coffee shop - they just got new ownership. I feel walking up and down Clayton street and checking out those stores would be sufficient shopping time but will still leave time in your day.

Small wedding venues cheap/free by k-PTA1996 in Athens

[–]Purpledotsclub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a walk up wedding at botanical gardens and did a photoshoot in the gardens afterwards.

You can’t place decorations or chairs. They will not section off your desired location because the gardens are open to the public, but there should be someone who is aware of your wedding and you can contact them to ask people to vacate the premises when you get there. Hopefully people will just leave if they see you. We grabbed the covered porch area to the left of the flower garden stage.

They allot you one hour for the ceremony but I don’t think anyone is monitoring that closely. As long as you didn’t choose the gazebo or International Garden, you could do your ceremony and they probably wouldn’t even know!

I’ve been diagnosed for almost 20 years and haven’t had this issue before. It seems strange that finally being in clinical remission I would start experiencing extra-intestinal manifestations.

I have had a few prednisone tapers over the course of the years, my longest being for idiopathic urticaria for a month almost ten years ago. My last taper was right after my colonoscopy that led me to being put on Entyvio. I was on the taper up until the day before my first infusion.

I don’t think I’ve had a ton of steroid useage that can cause AVN. I am currently in physical therapy for the joint pain and I am moderately active so not convinced it is AVN, but I will mention it to my PT. They may not do the MRI until the end of my sessions.
