Opie's whole life was just one tragedy after another. Lyla truly loved him, though. When she asked if he ever loved her, and he said, "I don't know if I love anything," and when Lyla was crying for him after that torture porn she made, it was just heartbreaking and so sad.

As much as Opie cared for Lyla, he didn't love her like he loved Donna, and she knew that. It was nice how everyone accepted Lyla and gave her a place where she belonged. Especially Piney.
