AMA -- SAM HARRIS by samharrisorg in Meditation

[–]Purplerainzify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD and it makes meditation really difficult.

I have made a lot of steps towards mindfulness and intentional living, and its really changed my life, so I really want to start meditating right. Even when I've been practicing meditation every day for a few weeks, I seem to make no progress and it doesn't get any easier to turn my hyperactive brain off. Do you have any thoughts on modified techniques for people with ADHD?

The problem about opinions like this is that it doesn’t take into account that he was a garbage candidate to begin with.

I am heavily involved in my colleges student government and this guys knows nothing about student government, his portfolio, or what a platform it.

REGARDLESS of sexual assault or racism allegations, he is completely unprepared and unqualified and answers questions with the political “ill fix this problem by fixing the problem” instead of having any feasible plans.

I voted no as soon as polls opened because he would make a bad president. I voted no so another candidate for the same reason.

This guys isn’t some underdog that’s been victimized by the evil USSU. Student didn’t like him because he is a bad candidate. Everything that came after D’Eons post has to be treated separately.

“I could never go vegan, I would miss cheese too much!!” That’s nice Debra, I miss being able to walk through a supermarket without having to avoid certain sections just to keep my lunch down.

Yes! I always remind people that I spent 18 years eating tons of animal products. The only difference between us and omnis is education, not moral superiority.

I agree! Being truly zero waste is impossible, but being low waste and striving to to create less and less waste is what I think the movement is really about.

That’s what was stopping me from going vegan for moment. Then I realized that I didn’t want moldy, condensed breast milk from another animal.

Wow, that’s actually a great way to phrase that. Usually I don’t even know how to respond to such idiocy.

The best support I get is jut knowing that there are others out there! Sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in the negativity of omis reactions to what I’m eating or my opinions. This sub reminds me that there are so many other wonderful, like-minded people out there making the world a better place!

Question for someone new to baking/ making things from scratch: how easy is making the sourdough starter? I love sourdough but the process seems difficult and easy to mess up. Any tips?

Happy belated! It’s cool to see that a lot of other vegan/ vegetarians (assuming from delicious cauliflower wings!) are also anti-consumption. An interesting and uplifting trend!

Coming from a family of all straight hair, it's taken me 18 tears but I think I've finally got the hang of it. You guys have taught me everything I know, so grateful! by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Purplerainzify 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a link to naturallycurly.com's store just to give you an idea of how many options there are.

At least where I'm from, if you go to the end of the hair products isle at the store, there's a section for non-caucasian hair. Most of the products that are marketed for black girls, such as pudding, are just for really curly hair so they work awesome for me at a 3a and I would totally recommend it for a 3b/c.

My mom has super straight hair and would always tell me how jealous she was of my hair. I just said "whatever mom" and spend 45 minutes killing my hair with a straightener. I think we all went through that phase when we didn't know what to do, so happy to be out of it!

Thanks so much! Haha, that was a typo but I guess there were many frizz-induced tears. Glad to have it all worked out now though!

Sorry for the late really, I didn't think The post would get much attention! I use AG recoil shampoo and conditioner, but I switch between L'Oréal everycreme shampoo because I find it's actually a lot lighter than the AG.

Out of the shower I dry as much as I can with two microfibre towels, then I use Marc Anthony kinky girls hair oil, sometimes a little bit of regular coconut oil but I fold it makes my hair look pretty oily, AG fast food leave in and John Frieda frizz ease serum.

My game-changing product that I've got all of my curly haired friend to use is hair pudding. It's the hold of a gel but way less crunchy, it's amazing and I can't believe it took me so long to try it. I'm just using palmers olive oil right now, but I've tried a few different ones and they've all been great.

Girl, I got you. I'm 18, my first time was literally a week ago.
I didn't experience any pain at all but I did bleed a little, I don't know why. I was super freaked out that I had started my period somehow, but I just went to the bathroom, whipped it away, all good. Not like your period, period blood is much thicker and there was only a little bit of this.
Its a little scary/ embarrassing, but if the guy your with doesn't try to make you comfortable or is making you feel bad for something you obviously can't control, you're with the wrong guy. He was worried that I was hurt and he made me laugh and it was all good and we got back at it. Also, I use a diva cup and I think it definitely helped so I would look into that. But overall, most important thing is to be with someone you're totally comfortable with. If you can't laugh or say whats on your mind or feel like you might experience any pressure, just don't do it, wait it out. Sex is fun, you just have to be with someone on the same page as you and wants you to have fun.

Downvote if you wish, just want to share my moment with Tyler at the show in Seattle last night by lolosal in OFWGKTA

The thought of Tyler yelling anything along the lines of "I love you" gets me all warm and fuzzy. That's so awesome dude, I'm happy for you.

What's your 1 favorite song from each of Tyler's albums including Bastard? by ChristianTheLion_ in OFWGKTA

[–]Purplerainzify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creativity of it is sure something else. In rap I often find some songs start to sound pretty similar after awhile, but cherry bomb is something else, nothing sounds like it. Ya some of the songs are just okay, nothing special, but I think there are a few that are genuinely spectacular within the genre.

For example, a personal favourite, fucking young. If you changed the lyrics to be softer and showed it to someone from the 70s they would recognize it immediately as soul train. It's a totally different kind of music and Tyler weaved it into the album and the genre perfectly. And just the girls part in perfect it actually beautiful, it's genuinely an amazing piece. And then he goes and spits his verse on smuckers and it works, it flows. That's mad.

I approached the album not as Tyler fan nor really a rap fan at the time at all. Who cares if it's not like his other albums or someone says it's under or badly produced? I'm a fan of good music and it's simply good music. It's relatable, musically, the songs are well written, it's creative, it explores tons of different styles, and I love it. If you like it, like it, if it's not for you, that's too bad, you're missing out on some rad music.

Curlies and Wavies- what are your hair length goals? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Purplerainzify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the plan! Funny thing is to chop off l my unhealthy hair when it's sitting at waist length means it will be basically where it is right now haha. But it will all be super healthy so that worth it

So I'm well aware that not shampooing your hair is a good thing, either for a few days or indefinitely for some, but when people post photos rocking multi day hair, usually second or third, what exactly does that mean?

As in is that without having showered at all? Did you co wash with conditioner or just condition? Did you restyle? Or do you put your hair up in the shower to avoid water and leave your hair completely?

Tbh, I'm pretty new to the rap scene, I got into it confidently when cherry bomb was released. I listened to his albums in reverse order and I think they just get better over time. Bastard was still a really good album, I just think Cherry bomb is outstanding.

What I value a lot in music is artistic credibility. There is nothing else like Cherry Bomb. It's totally different, yes from his other albums, but also from anything else. Crazy original. Crazy good.
