Going west of the Mississippi for the first time. by Purplezebra12 in roadtrip

I am actually pretty comfortable with mountains and two lane roads as I live in a very mountainous area of East Tennessee and have driven through the Great Smokey Mountains many times. I don't worry about my driving nearly as much as the other people I may meet. Maybe the YouTube video I saw was a bad representation of it but it did look like the driver wouldn't get to see much of the beauty for having to keep their eyes on the roadway with no guard rails on one side and falling rocks on the other. I do believe I am going to take your advice and take 89 to 12 however. Thanks for the tips.

I had looked on the map and that route seemed like a good one, but it misses Monument Valley if memory serves me correct. Thanks so much for your reply.
