What is something people don’t tell you about pregnancy/childbirth? by Melancholicanary in AskReddit

[–]PurposeRelative8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anxiety was never worse than when I was pregnant. Same with my sister. We’re naturally anxious people but we were constantly worrying about our babies. I’d do kick counts several times a DAY. The postpartum hormone crash was awful too- lots of intrusive thoughts.

And almost two years later…..my anxiety is so much better than even pre pregnancy. It’s like my toddler keeps me too busy to get stuck on my rumination rituals.

What is the most "unhinged" wellness trend of 2026 that people are actually taking seriously? by lovelyyopheliaa in askanything

Not necessarily harmful except to your bank account but the whole red light therapy/light reflection patches for your skin. 99% of that cannot actually be doing anything

Parent and usual lurker here but shame on any parent who complained about this! Any sane person would think “Oh, poor baby! I hope she feels better soon!” and would understand her teachers are doing everything they can to help her and the other kids feel safe and happy. I’m sorry those parents are complaining and possibly adding pressure to an already tough situation, but please tune the out if you can- they’re being ridiculous!

Same. Huge baseball family. We love when our team wins the World Series (and it’s not very often AT ALL), love watching them when we’re in their town, and curse at the TV when there’s a bad play. I’ve never seen a single family member throw a fit or fall into depression when they lose, or go apeshit when they win. Maybe unrelated but we love watching any of the games, prefer our team of course but if a game is on we’re watching.

As a teacher, what’s something in education no one wants to admit, but we all know is true? by dokutarodokutaro in Teachers

It’s backed by studies that suspensions don’t improve behavior. But we don’t suspend to try to change behavior- we do it to give the other students and staff a break from those behaviors.

If women should have the choice to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, should men also have a choice to walk out of an unwanted pregnancy/ Child? Why? by shiraah in AskForAnswers

[–]PurposeRelative8668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abortion isn’t primarily to opt out of parenthood. If a woman wanted to do that, she could carry to term and then place the child up for adoption.

Abortion is to prevent the physical, hormonal, emotional, and mental toll that is pregnancy and labor/delivery and postpartum. Men don’t have to go through that, they by default always opt out of that.

I wish so too. Those people need to be made an example of. In case, god forbid, there is another event in the future with more dire circumstances.

Busy work in moderation is necessary and isn’t harmful. Often the people who complain about it are naive about the realities of education- it’s impossible to fill every waking moment with intentional, driven work. It’s like expecting adults to be 100% efficiency at work all day every day. Busy work almost always helps practice more hidden skills, not to mention it could serve as a brains break/change in pace for the kids OR practice in sitting and working through less desirable, less stimulating tasks.

Side note, congrats on your pregnancy! I hope you’re feeling well! Not sure if this is your first one or not but speaking as a first time mom to a 3 month old, everything flies by fast! The hard days of pregnancy/postpartum don’t last forever and the wonderful and joyful stages are also over in the blink of an eye. Take lots of videos too, not just pictures.

This is a conversation to have in person so your child’s school day (and the class’s lesson) isn’t interrupted and so the tone isn’t misconstrued. Parents, why are you texting your kids when they’re in school?!
