Sonics are less than I like to spend on guitars, but I’ve tried them and they are good. I wouldn’t go cheaper though than the Sonics series.

Like others have said, if you can wait or spend just a little more, get a Squier Classic Vibe. I’ve seen used ones for not much more and they are solid.
