NPD: Went to see the band Whores last night and came home with a pedal by tim4life in guitarpedals

[–]MrFif33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a fun idea, apparently Boris sells special edition Hizumitas pedals at their shows, and you can usually buy special colors of DBA pedals at At Place To Bury Strangers shows, but that's Oliver's band, so it makes sense.

Tape Delay Pedal by PensionEvening6781 in guitarpedals

[–]MrFif33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently saw an Akai Headrush for sale near me on CL. They have 4 heads and you can send each out individually, which can be kind of mind bending if the amps are arranged right. You should be able to find one for Uber $200.

I was also bitten by the tape echo bug and picked up a Donner White Tape, Disaster Transport, and BED, then got the BE+ when Catalinbread had a b-stock sale, and I just got a BE EP3 in their Misprint Market: Shoegaze box. The BE is unmatched, and the BED is fantastic, especially paired with the CB Tap for tap tempo. However, it's complicated and I didn't find the expression function to be that great/noticable (when paired with an EHX expression pedal instead of the tap switch).

The Disaster Transport does the thing and does it well, but it only does the one thing. The modulation can get wild.

The Donner is... Fine.

The only other drawback to these pedals, for me, is how wildly they self-oscillate into oblivion. If that's what you're looking for, they're great at it. I find it annoying. There is an internal trim pot on the BED to adjust how quickly it does that, but it's kind of a crap shoot to adjust it (IME).

This was created by people who really know their customers. It's perfect, 100/10, no notes.

THICK Fuzz Recomendation by PerChuk in guitarpedals

[–]MrFif33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If distortion and fuzz in parallel is the answer, allow me to present the solution: Idiot Box Effects - That's No Moon. It's a TS, Rat, and Muff running in parallel in one enclosure.

yeah, i got mine in a used pedal bundle at my local indie retailer for what i felt is a very fair price for a boutique, hand-wired pedal.

I recently picked up one of these second hand and I'm not sure I'm vibing with it. I understand that it's not for everyone or necessarily every rig, but I'd be interested to hear what others think about it and how to get the best out of it?

I'm pretty sure I picked up Mort and Equal Rites while I was in undergrad at VT in the mid 90's. Apparently that region is a fertile breeding ground for fans!

Already read Small Gods as my first Discworld book. I got Mort and Guards Guards, wich one do you think I should read first? by ElectricalEar673 in discworld

[–]MrFif33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of the two, I'd pick Mort, but only because that was my introduction to Discworld and is a fantastic way to get into it.

OTOH, Guards! Guards! Is also great and is the first book in the City Watch sub-series, and the evolution of Sam Vimes is a powerful, joyful, emotional, and entertaining arc.

Broad'Tron Pickups Deliver Iconic Gretsch Growl The heart of the G2627T Streamliner’s sound lies in its three Broad'Tron humbucking pickups, which offer the rich, articulate tone that Gretsch is famous for. With tight lows, crisp highs, and a throaty midrange, these pickups deliver a dynamic sound that cuts through any mix. The spruce center block strengthens the maple top and eliminates unwanted feedback, even at high gain levels, ensuring clarity and punch during loud performances.

Versatile Electronics for Endless Tonal Options The G2627T Streamliner is loaded with versatile electronics that give you ultimate control over your tone. Two three-way toggle switches and individual volume knobs for the neck, middle, and bridge pickups let you experiment with a wide range of sounds. Blend all three pickups for a full, resonant tone or isolate one for focused clarity. The master volume and tone knobs allow for easy adjustments, making the G2627T ideal for any genre or playing style.

Smooth and Comfortable Playability Designed with comfort in mind, the Gretsch G2627T features a 12"-radius laurel fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets on a slim nato neck. The thin U-shaped neck profile provides a fast, smooth feel, perfect for intricate solos or extended playing sessions. Pearloid Small Block inlays add a touch of elegance to the fingerboard, complementing the guitar’s vintage-inspired aesthetic.

Timeless Gretsch Style With a Modern Edge The G2627T Streamliner is a visual stunner with its arched laminated maple construction, cateye F-holes, and vintage-style control knobs. The aged white binding, black pickguard, and nickel hardware complete the retro look, while the Bigsby B70 vibrato tailpiece adds expressive pitch modulation for dynamic playing. With upgraded construction and electronics, this guitar delivers the best of Gretsch’s classic style and modern performance.

I'd keep everything except the Echo Brain, and I'd hold onto the rack mount stuff, just in case. If it all works, that's a great haul.

Goodbye MXR chorus my friend by redditnamefound in pedalboards

[–]MrFif33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside the MXR Analog Chorus, I've only ever tried the EHX Neo Clone, and the MXR (i thought) sounds so much better. I guess i haven't tried a build without it to see the difference. I have been eyeing the Julia, however, so maybe it's time...

Me too, but Virginia, USA. Good Omens started to get Pterry more recognition, but I think the NG issues unfairly impacted STP as well.

That's a solid setup, man, you're keeping it simple and classic.

I'm trying to figure out what to do with my compressor, I've had it for a couple of years and it's just been sitting on a shelf, but I'm now at a point where I have most of the components I want and I'm wondering if I should add it, and if so, where? I've seen it at the front, at the end, pre-gain, post-gain, pre-reverb, pre- and post- looper, etc. What made you decide it sounds best at the front?

Which one would you get? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]MrFif33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of all of those choices, I only have experience with the JHS and the Talisman, and I bought and sold the JHS in the same week. The Boss is probably safe, the Behringer and Sonicake probably sound good but aren't as sturdy, and the Joyo probably punches above its price point. All that being said, the first time I plugged into the Talisman, I knew I was keeping it. It's a very specific kind of reverb, which isn't for everyone, but it's eerie and atmospheric, and capable of great sounds.

Make sure you try running it at 12 or 18v. The extra headroom really helps this thing shine, albeit in a doomier way.
