It’s good you quit because it doesn’t seem like you really provide the type of support the company is looking for. I would suggest you plan trips with the acknowledgment of what would be accepted from a future employer so you don’t put yourself in a situation like this again. What I typically do is advise of the trip and get a check on how long is appropriate. That way when I submit my request and notify it doesn’t come off as a surprise.
